could the lingam be the core for a step up transformer? the small power source in the bowl from the rice husks and dissimilar metals. to excite a larger voltage from a coil around the lingam. you said a sound plate or vibration plate, I think. maybe it made and broke the contact to cause the pulse of voltage to produce a larger voltage. like the coil on a car. if you wrap the same type of stone rod with many turns of smaller wire and a few turn of large wire, like the one found under the lingam. pulse the voltage on the large coil, to pulse a higher voltage from the other, or vice a versa.

Perhaps it wasn't resistive glow but ancient version of neon lighting - it wouldn't require a massive power supply either so it could be portable.

One American turned hindu sadhu described how Agastya muni used to create electricity in a copper dish. He wrote a sanskrit text also saying that this is by Agastya Muni. Hindus should know that Hindu sages use to make Viman, so called UFO by Americans. One type Viman was operated by electricity and it has been described as a best Viman.

Wouldn't it be the funniest thing if aditya the sun god came running to the battlefield armed with a Bajaj immersion heater?

Whack the enemy on his head and say , "If only I had a long enough extension cord, you'd be a dead man"

Is this guy for real?

You can take a coil of wire and bend it into any shape you see in a statue or a carving. The shape has absolutely nothing to do with it.

He assumes the carving depicts a metallic object, so it suits his purpose.

He assumes they fed electricity into it, so it suits his purpose

He assumes it was made of nichrome coil, so it suits his purpose.

All he did was build himself an electric heating coil. And yes, coils do generate heat light and boil water, and that's no rocket science.

Now he still needs to prove that in ancient India it was made of nichrome and had 220 volts flowing through it. This reeks of desperation and dishonesty.
