Samsung has a 1 dead pixel return policy, proving that such a concept is completely possible.

All these other companies are simply refusing to hold themselves to the same standard.

Don’t buy expensive monitors, it is useless if they have dead pixels anyway. Just buy a cheap one.
I paid for a 1440p monitor not a 1439p monitor.

I paid over 5k for a fully customized Dell precision workstation and it arrived with a few dead pixels. I was pissed. Being that it arrived right at the beginning of the Covid lockdowns, I knew if I returned it, I wasn't going to get a replacement. I needed it for business, so I just had to deal with it. After two years, the display just randomly developed lines all through it like LCD TVs with tab bond failure. It cost me about $200 to replace it and I finally have a display with no dead pixels.

DIRT from the factory is another issue. I legit got a Philips Google tv 50 inch. I had 3 dead pixels/stuck pixels that where white. took it back the same day. Got another one it worked maybe a WEEK got two BLACK ones. Looked like a total black dead pixel I was about to take it back and get another TV all together. I did the suction cup try and it worked?! Either it was just dirt or somehow it popped a stuck/dead pixel back to life!

why
Because the Consumer said they want !
I worked in consumer electronics at one time. Joe Consumer what's it made Cheep not Good.
Compare a Microwave over of 50 years ago, American Made and would Cost you a month salary but last 30 years, today Microwave cost less than $100 they are make in China also you lucky if it last as long as the warranty .
BECAUSE YOU Told the Engineers of these Company that's what you Want with your $$$$.
the Microwave that last 30 years is still available and will still cost you a MORE if you really want it.! so Stop pointing the Finger and accept these Companies are only doing what the Consumer tells them to.

Once I had a CPU that had a dead core or more.
I just couldn't use the PC with 8 cores enabled, because it crashed if it got "overwhelmed".
I tried many things, in the end I used it with 6 cores until I've got my first real PSU, but it made nothing better.
Then I've returned the CPU with my GPU aswell, since one if it's fan died. (Both was from AMD and 2 months "old".)
AMD switched my FAN out and gave me a brand new CPU... The process took 3 months...

They should check the monitors for defects and give them classes- first class- no defects, full price. Second class- small defects, small discount, etc. I wonder why this system disappeared from the practise, maybe with processors using something similar. Customers would know what they get, and they could buy cheaper but monitors with defects, manufacturers would not have to worry about service calls for products they deem alright, and they could sell more of their monitors, with bonus of reducing e-waste. Although, they probably would rather sell all monitors full price...

Never mind the shocking price of GPU's the price of monitors these days is far beyond a joke, you should expect zero defects & a solid warranty at these prices otherwise the money goes elsewhere. No consumer confidence no sale...

Sometimes very slightly puching the area with the dead pixel on your screen might fix it. I had a dead pixel on my 2k screen which was always green. Slightly touching it fixed it. It died a few times after, but now i havent had it with the same monitor in 2 years. Obviously dont push hard, you may just damage the screen furtherr

Quality control in the last 3 years or so has gone to complete garbage. Not just electronics but other goods as well. Most cordless tools these days use some form of 20 volt battery pack to power them. It's not uncommon at all these days to buy a really nice battery, for example a $150 8 ah battery just to find out that it's a total dud and you have to take it back for a new one. I'm also a cyclist and we have seen a huge uptick in the amount of bottom bracket bearings that fail within the first 500 miles of installation when they are supposed to be a 5 to 8,000 mi part. I'm not sure what's causing it but manufacturing has decreased in quality somehow which for the last 200 years it has consistently increased in quality.

Almost every Samsung monitor is produced in Vietnam except some premium $1K+ in Korea and they are selling their "Ultrasharp" "ProArt" display with name "Viewfinity S8, S9" but i have check 12 of them in the stores -> Too much defect (every monitor has at least 1 dead pixel), that why Samsung sales the Viewfinity S9 4K 32inch HDR400, 98%P3 only for $350 officially.

I haven't seen a dead pixel on any monitor probably last 15-20 years. I didn't know it were still a thing.
Anyway. If somehow it were possible to get a monitor with dead pixel, you will get it replace in Norway under the 5 year warranty.

i bought a replacement panel for a laptop and this replacement had what looked like a dead pixel at first but seemed at an angle, with close look with a magnifier, looks like a 'thunderfly' stuck between the layers!! couldnt return it as i'd had it a while before i was able to get round to fitting it

Even with multiple dead pixels, a high-end monitor will still give the functionality you need it to. Sure, it'll be annoying as hell to some people, but if you have to buy a new $300+ monitor for one pixel which really doesn't affect your gaming experience, don't worry about it. You'll still have a massive advantage against people playing video games at 60hz, and one dead pixel won't affect your gameplay.

when i was 16yrs old i saved my money and bought a brand new laptop in a local computer store. It was damn expensive for me as a student and i was excited as a kid can be as i unboxed the laptop. I turned it on and there was a always on red pixel top middle on the screen. I drove back to the store and explained that the screen has a defect. They didn't do anything. Not even a discount. That's how i found out about this "rule". I can't even express how disappointed I was back then...

Bought a gaming monitor for first time and last. A iiyama screen with a dead pixel that gives light always....
No response from customer service because it falls in the range of the failure rate we suppose to accept.
For now on i only go for cheapo screens that just work fine with all the pixels i bought.

Just went through this issue with Samsung, after weeks of phone support back and forth, finally managed to convince their tech chat tech support operator that a 2-3mm block of dead pixels in the middle of the screen alongside several smaller black dots were enough dead pixels to qualify for fixing under the warranty.

arguing that it's a non-trivial problam because there are millions of pixels is a bogus argument because each CPU core has hundreds of millions of transistors and those manufacturers can deal with it

so, i've heard that for laptops, the monitor can only have 3 broken subpixels for most of manufacturers, since you can't just pop the old monitor off and put a new one, of course it's possible but harder

i bought an MSI curved 144hz monitor a while back (i still use it) and i noticed after a week that there is a thin and faint line halfway to the left going from top to bottom- its really barely noticable- you only really see it at all if the whole screen is black, but it must of come out of the box like that 😂
