Esultate - Fake dramatic tenors VS Gianni Raimondi (lyric tenor with SQUILLO!)

As much as I like Raimondi, his intonation is all over the place.

I think Alagna sounds pretty good, much better than Kaufmann

They're just good tenors going out of repertoire, they're not that bad after all. Also Raimondo was closest to spinto rather than dramatic.

The modern examples have balance issues but they aren’t light years away from raimondi either.

For today's tenor, Giancarlo Monsalve's Otello is magnificent.

Raimondi es un tenor lirico, y a pesar de su voz tan bella y hermosa, no tiene la potencia que necesita una ópera tan potente como Otello. Vean como quedó tapada (por la orquesta) la voz de Roberto Alagna, las voces liricas no se ven muy bien para las óperas verdianas y menos las wagnerianas. También Puccini entraría en escena de las óperas dramáticas tipo Turandot o el tríptico.
Obvio un tenor lirico tendrá más squillo o brillo en sus agudos, pero es por una cualidad de dicha rama o tipo de ópera que se maneja para esta voz tan bella que es la lirica.
Para óperas dramáticas, se necesitan voces muy potentes y con un color bastante abaritonado, sin carecer de importantes agudos.

BTW Raimondi was one of the most dependable underrated tenors of the post war era!!!

Sure, in the practice room, where no one cares if you sing sharp, everyone is brilliant. Raimondi was a lovely singer in his own right, but this isn’t obviously, categorically better. It’s not even in tune.
