Their whole meeting emphasises the beauty and depth of Gatsby’s love, but also it’s destined failure. Gatsby has clearly imagined this moment a thousand times and planned it to perfection, filling the room with flowers, scourging the house clean, but when it comes down to it he freaks out because he is so terrified she will reject him. It’s awkward and painful at first, but they later clearly say what they need to say and reunite lovingly. But the flawed reality as opposed to his perfect dream is embedded in their relationship from the start. It’s always doomed to fail.

Though they're distant cousins, I wonder if Daisy liked the idea of an affair with Nick. It's still that time period after all.

They try to tell you that Gatsby is about the vanity of the rich, the hollowness of the upper class, the mirage of the american dream. NO! Any one that has fallen in lover before sees Gatsby as it is. It is about how far a man is willing to go for someone they love. This is something the modern critics trying to convince people such kind of devotion does not exist. NO! It is about love, about unrequited love, and how it can be the most powerful motivation for any man. Gatsby devoted himself to the one he loved, and that made him "the great", simple as. Gatsby also exposes the unfortunate truth that women love men who are accomplished. Only weak men would be demoralized by these facts, real men would exert themselves harder and will make sure that the woman they love have no excuse to reject them. Work guys, work until you don't have to introduce yourselves.

The acting is so bad here. I mean, if it was a high school play maybe. But seriously, it's so bad.
I once thought my rinky dink stereo from Target was state of the art. That is, until I bought Harman Cardon speakers.
I know what I'm gonna say is not gonna be popular. But I'm gonna say it anyway. Please watch this scene with Robert Redford. If you still prefer DiCaprio, so be it. But it won't be because I didn't give it my best "shot".

So I did the math, and $80 back then is around $1400 in today's money. But that's still freaking cheap for a house like that.

I'm also having a similar case to Gatsby meeting Daisy after a long time, in my case, it's 9 years. For me, things didn't go like the video but I'm happy that I finally met her for the last time.

As unlikable as a character Daisy might be, I think it was rather polite of her to tell Nick the chauffeur's name, she didn't have to do that. Then again I'm always somebody that finds like tiny good things and characters like her so I might just be overlooking it.

I think it's so cute how nervous and anxious Gadsby is about seeing Daisy again. Shows that although he's confident and secure around others and during business dealings, Daisy has him acting like a, well, man in love. Longing and desperately wanting/needing her approval.

I don't think Gatsby was really in love with Daisy. I think Gatsby was in love with what Daisy represents. To have a woman like Daisy by his side represents wealth & status. Something Gatsby has aspire to gain since childhood. I think Gatsby failing to obtain Daisy all those years ago is what's really driving him to obsess over her. Remember when Gatsby was younger he managed to obtain wealth from a man he worked for only to have it snatched away. Causing Gatsby to start all over again to find a means of wealth. It's the same with Daisy.
