This just reinforces my views of the 392. V8s are great, but weight and power are the enemy of reliability, which Jeep sucks at to begin with.

Honestly I think the JK is the best platform for a super capable crawler/overlander. Price point was reasonable, very little new age tech to worry about, aftermarket support for anything you can imagine. I put super duty axles under it and when my 3.6 goes ill put a V8 in it and run it into the ground👌🏻

Sorry you had a bad experience... My '21 Jeep lasted 14k miles... It was NOT a Wrangler, it was a Cherokee Trailhawk, but 9 lifters failed @12k, then noises from the rear end started, paint started lifting on the hood, b-pillars started peeling... bye bye Jeep. Never again.

Ive got an old cj7 and it has a v8 and almost nothing drivetrain wise is electric. The more computers they put in these newer cars the less I would trust them offload. My jeep is the best $4500 I've spent on a vehicle.

You are 100% right. For that amount of money it should be reliable. I got rid of my gladiator because I had a rattle on the b pillar right at ear level and the dealer couldn’t fix it. I love the gladiator and now there talking about putting the 392 in that but I know that’s going to bring the price up to 90 to 95 k . Just like you I can’t justify paying these crazy vehicle price’s anymore and this is coming from a person that has bought over 60 brand new cars in my life . Just way way out of control. Thanks for the honesty. 👍🏻👍🏻

30K+ miles in a year? No maintenance on the transfer case. You went out straight off the showroom floor, the first day, go blast around offroad at zero to 100 miles on the odometer. Yeah geez, wonder why after dogging the whee out of it, it started having problems. Can't figure that out. You're never going to find that vehicle that does all that maintenance free or breakdown free.

We have a V8 4Runner and I absolutely love it. We do tow a trailer and we get about 8 mpg when offroading with our OPUS trailer. So I understand the MPG issue. We used to break axles all the time, but then I upgraded them on both the front and rear and added air lockers and now I absolutely love it. Done many trips and never been stranded. But I was worried taking it out in snow as that was when I would break axles, so I totally get it. This winter we did multiple snow trips in up to 3 feet deep snow and never got stuck and didn't break. Finally I feel totally comfortable again with our rig. I should also note, that we regeard too so it probably drives close to what that 392 does but with a lot less horsepower. She scoots real good now when the trailer isnt on it.

The reason Ford has so many more recalls than Stellantis is because Ford is honest and forthcoming about design issues and Stellantis is not. If you buy a Jeep, you will only be notified about MVSS items that they are federally required to address. If it has ANY issue that is not about the steering, brakes, or other safety equipment, they will NOT address it. My 2010 jeep had $6000 of unresolved issues that I had to pay for. I sold it when I was going to have to pay a second time for one of these unresolved issues. These kinds of problems cannot be "fixed", because they are "by design". One shop refused to work on my Jeep because they knew the problem would only reoccur and they would be wrongly blamed for it. Thank You for exposing the truth about this car company. This is why they have the biggest overstock of any car company. I have a Tacoma now (2018 bought new) and it is a Night and Day difference in ownership experience.

I hear stories like yours all the time about Stellantis built vehicles. So this is what the modern day Jeep stands for,

J-just
e-expect
e-electrical
p-problems

Sorry but this is 100% the truth, jeep is a bad ass off roader, no doubting that but Stellantis has ruined the reliability of anything they touch.

A quarter tank on a steep decline stall - its's most likely just fuel starvation. V8 pump could be bigger or located differentky , or of a different type than V6. And it probably was less than a quarter - the gauge could show a bit more on a decline.
Had it few times happening to me with a tahoe, when i thought there was a quarter left....

The fuel pickup is in the back of tank. Makes sense it would run out going down hill when low. Plus side it won’t run try going up hill or under hard acceleration

When you go on a decline with less than a quarter tank, the fuel shifts away from the fuel pump, causing the engine to die since it can’t pull fuel from the tank. To avoid getting stuck and needing to pull it down a hill, keep the tank above 1/4 full. Carrying a couple of 5-gallon fuel cans as backup is a simple way to prevent this issue. And the reason it didn't die going up hill is because the fuel was at the fuel pump.

Love your channel, been I while since I watched... thought really hard about moving into a 392JL (Had one gased up and ready to go for a weekend at the dealership), but, thought really hard on the full-time Tcase as well... still loving life with my 2013 V6 manual Rubi... oh, also thought about how much $ I had in the '13 and how much I'd need to put into the 392 to make it what I want (cough, need, ha)... at any rate, the full time case made me walk away... love it in my '19 Grand Cherokee SRT, but, it has never seen dirt much less hard trails. Thank you.

I know there's some kind of tube inside the tank as well as some kind of floater thing. Maybe the sensor didn't think fuel was inside of it being that you had a small amount of fuel to begin with

I don’t have a 392, but I do have a 2023 JLURXR, and a sloped driveway.

When I back up my driveway and park, the fuel level drops on the gauge. If the fuel level is low on level ground, it will dip below empty in my driveway.

If I had to take a wild guess, I would say that it’s either a fuel pickup issue or the ECU tells the fuel pump to shut off due to the extremely low fuel level.
