Attempting The Pantheon of Hallownest - Hollow Knight | Blind Playthrough [Part 29]

I needed to come back 8 months later after getting about 1/3 of the way through P5 just to say how absolutely painful this challenge is and how well Mapo did for his first time.

As an "older" gamer myself, I just resigned myself to knowing I 112% the game and that's okay. I had the same feeling after dying that Mapo had. I just can't dedicate my time and energy to all of this. But I'll watch others suffer 😂

No eyes camping in the same spot within the thorn bush by teleporting in the same coordinates is some grade "A" bull, but also kinda hilarious.

there IS healing opportunity in the regular mantis lords fight, its when they both throw their blades at once, you can get One heal off. i notice that you usually try to heal a bunch at one time (and end up getting hit) and so you miss the smaller opportunities to get one health back

Remember that you can change charms at the benches in the pantheon. You can change up your charms for a set of bosses

I got to the second to last Pantheon of Hallownest boss when it came out and didn't try again for about 2 years and just went back and finished it last summer. It took a couple weeks of work so don't feel bad if you need a break. It was hugely rewarding to finish though. Edit: I didn't try it again for 4 years!

In case you and you guys don't know, there's this artist who makes characters from other games (mostly Dark Souls and so on) as bugs in the style of Hollow Knight.
Sure you will love that! :)

What I find so intriguing about you plaing Hollow Knight is that you make things look so easy, some of the bosses and challanges you did in just a few tries drive some people out there insane, me including! I mean I'm used to 2D plattforming and games like that and I played way more than 100 hours of Hollow Knight and still don't even try to do the pantheons because I just can't do it. I remember when you did Zote for the first time, you defeated him after just a few tries and I was like HOW THE HELL!? I don't remember how long it took me, I haven't played in a while I'm not sure if I even have done it... and you just do these casually, it's intriguing but yet annoying for me to watch ;-)

I think you would enjoy NieR Replicant and Automata for the heavy emotional stories, deep lore and fun gameplay. I also think you would really enjoy Hades!

If you want to get into Metroid, Super Metroid is probably the best place to start. The first game in the series will probably a bit spartan by modern standards and, if you're not used to it, could be challenging for non-gameplay reasons. Metroid 2 can be isolating and the environmental story telling limited, though if you're paying attention you do get the gist of it once things click into place (I haven't played the remake, which I think may have added content to help with this). While it's there if you're paying attention in previous games, Super Metroid redefined the genre and really brought stepped up environmental storytelling in games, and is really where Hollow Knight's genealogy as descendant of the Metroid series originates.

The Metroid Prime series would also be a very good place to start, too (especially with the amazing remaster of the first game which hopefully foretells more remasters to come). Those games are considered some of the series's best, with the first game being up there with Super Metroid. The second game is just as good, though gets lest praise, probably because, while its story is much more flushed out, its gameplay is also much more intense and challenging. Third one is good too, but takes a very different tone. Presumably work on the 4th is still going forward, so you'd have that to look forward to.

There's also Metroid Fusion which is a quite decent place to start. I've heard Metroid Dread, the most recent in the series, is also a decent entry point with a lot of newcomers to the series enjoying it and wanting more. I haven't finished that yet, but I don't see anything wrong with starting there, though, though some things will make more sense if you've played Fusion, which it's really the sequel to.

Omgosh! The Collector soundtrack and fight here is so amazing!

Their are a lot of Metroidvania games that are great. Ender Lilies, Gato Roboto, Guacameleel, Haiku the Robot, The Messenger, Blasphemous, and Vernal Edge. Their not all like Hollow knight, some are more lighter themed, others are darker.

Well done getting so far on a 1st attempt, with multiple blind bosses.

I love The sisters of Battle! And love to see new players happy and surprised reaction when the third sister stands up, the music quiets, and all three prepares for battle...! I love it!

I hope I'm not the first to suggest it, but you should try Hyper Light Drifter. It's not a Metroidvania per se, but in my mind it sits in the same category as Hollow Knight despite their differences. I think you'd really enjoy it!

Saws added to bossfights is the worst? Never check the mods 😁

If you want to do more Hollow knight content there is still plenty to do.
You can always rank your 10 favorite bosses, enemies or ranking all the different biomes.
Charms might be difficult, as there is several you haven't tried at all

Steel soul stream sounds amazing. You might also want to look into randomizer mods; they give the game even more replayability and theyre really well made

If you're looking for metroidvania options, I really liked Environmental station Alpha.
The graphics might put some people off, but honestly it's a great game

In my opinion, the battle with all the bosses in the 5th pantheon is too much... It would be better if this pantheon was like the other 4 pantheons.

i wouldn't mind seeing more attempts even if they fail. like this we won't be spoiled for the video too and have anxiety when you close to death haha

this is my favorite game ever, so glad Mapo loved it too :3 only regret of this playthrough is that Sheo is left without his Nailsmith husband

with No Eyes I usually just stand in one place and wait for her to teleport near, but I never finished 5th pantheon anyway xD

so glad to see you get to this point, from here HK is more of a personal enjoyment type of game, kind of hard to make content out of it other than being pro challenge runner and stuff

Wow wow wow, what a first attempt! Seriously impressed by how far you got, and so happy that I got to see you react to Sisters of Battle! I really think you've got what it takes to beat this Pantheon, but take your time. I'd love to see multiple attempts, or see a video of your final successful attempt, whichever you might chose to go for. Can't wait to see the reaction to mossbag's lore video!
