Seems unlikely that a 31 foot, four ton Sarcasuccus would be eating a 43 foot long, ten ton Tyrannosaurus Rex which had the second most powerful bite in the fossil record. Maybe a juvenile, I guess. 🤷♂️
ОтветитьMy favorite Crocodilians may be the Spectacled caiman.
ОтветитьI recently saw a video of a cuban crocodile galloping. I'm a little disappointed that you didn't include that here as I find that to be a major reason that they are intimidating. Still a great video, however.
ОтветитьMy dream pet would be a cuivers dwarf caiman if I could and I had the money and space I would have a 10-15feet tank give him a pond and some plants and a little area to dig and cool off or he could go bask out on his perch like ledge bitty he would get all kinds of meat from chicken pig duck and I’d maybe smear egg yolk on some of the meat as an extra treat and calcium dust it all, I would need to handle him often and get him used to people and stuff incase I ever needed to take him to the vet and so he will trust me enough to brush his teeth nothing much just a tooth brush and some warm ish water to get anything out-and the maroon red eyes and the spikey backs and tails they just look so cool but Cuban crocs are amazing and are definitely my favourite present day croc (extinct is kapro suchus cuz like bro imagine that thing for a horror movie hunting people down and shiz that would be sick!)
ОтветитьI have a pressing question I feel like this channel is the most appropriate to answer- is the idea that crocodiles/alligators are green an extreme example of the Mandela effect?
I can't find a picture of one that's green that hasn't been photo-shopped or isn't just covered in algae
Your blatant disrespect towards people from Senegal to Gabon where you said they couldn't discern differences between 2 species of crocodiles was blatantly colonialist racist. Would you utter the same remarks on folks between Vietnam to India on whether they know how to identify every crocodile species native there?
ОтветитьAs scary as Cuban crocs are… don’t underestimate American crocs the florida population does not justify how terrifying they can be when they aren’t competing with gators
ОтветитьYES SOMEBODY MENTIONS WEIRD “false” GHARIALS✨✨✨
ОтветитьI love crocodilians , caimans and gators so much , and i know for the love of god its not recomended as a pet but my dream would be one day to have my dwarf caiman.
ОтветитьI see the false gharial name being sensible cause it doesn't have the ghara. Can't really name a thing "ye boi with the pot snoot" when the pot snoot is missing
ОтветитьWhat about the yellow Caiman??
ОтветитьFunfact: the 'Yacare' caiman's name is probably a reference to the portuguese word for caimans in general, "Jacaré".
Ответитьthe best way to tell if you have a croc or gator is by listening, does it say in a while or see ya later
ОтветитьI think and I WISH we should resurrect all of these recently extinct "could survive in the modern world" animals and learn about them. I'm honestly really already sick of the people worrying too much about ethics and say we should never bring back anything. No I think we should advance and should try new things when we already can.
ОтветитьQuestions: if Nile crocodiles exist in the Everglades, is there a reasonable possibility of hybridization with the American croc? If so, is it possible that the hybrid would be larger than the two parent species? This may be the case with the Siamese and Saltwater hybrids like Utan. The conservation-minded adult in me cringes at the thought of Nile crocs establishing in the Glades, where they could wreak havoc; however, the teenage misanthropic nerd in me is just a bit gleeful at the prospect of giant, aggressive hybrid monsters.
ОтветитьThe ridiculousness of the "false" gharial name is why I always call them by their much cooler scientific name, tomistoma.
ОтветитьI love how crocodilians care for their young. I think they may be a very intelligent group as some alligators have been seen putting branches on their snouts during a birds nesting season. That seems more crafty than many mammals.
ОтветитьWhy holding a caiman/crocodile/alligator (I forgot) the whole time???
ОтветитьSaying that the us and asia are neighbors because Alaska and Russia are in close proximity is ridiculous
ОтветитьJust a minor nitpick, -suchus technically doesn't mean "crocodile", but is derived from the name of the Egyptian werecrocodile god Sobek.
ОтветитьWho knew boomers were such a diverse species?
ОтветитьFar Cry 4 introduced me to mugger crocodiles.
ОтветитьDude when you're talking about an animal, you don't need to be HOLDING THE ANIMAL in your hands, taping shut the poor animal's jaw, tf...
Ответитьthis has been my favorite video of yours to watch. I love crocodilians
Ответитьhi clint, I am not sure if I missed something, but Purrusaurus is the largest croc. It lived in the cenozoic though. If you were only reffering to Mesozoic, Deinosuchus Hatcherii is larger than sarcosuchus.
ОтветитьAs always, thank you for stressing when an animal makes for a terrible pet. Every dwarf camain video I see on other channels are just negligent in that, and the comments are full of people wanting to know where to get one.
ОтветитьNone of these big words are going to stick in my brain, but goddammit, I just love Clint's presentations, with the wide-eyed exuberance and joy of a ridiculously smart child.
ОтветитьI lived in Chennai and visited the Crocodile Bank and later brought my students. The muggers and gharial they have there are impressive.
ОтветитьDear, precious Heavenly Father; I reach out this morning to lift Brian up to your throne. I ask if you'll reach out your hand and touch Brian's body. Please reach inside him and remove every tumor. Please heal his entire body, heart, mind and soul. In the name of Jesus, I ask..
I love you Brian and the prayers and the hope don't stop.
Crocodilians are stinking rad! :3
ОтветитьSorry did you say gigantic aquatic salamander????
ОтветитьIn which genera do the chocodiles sit?
ОтветитьThe bitterness about the false gharial cracked me up.
Great episode! Crocs are so dang cool
Imagine being held by a larger creature, tape over your mouth, surrounded by skulls of your kind.
ОтветитьDon't forget the yellow caiman
ОтветитьI can't tell if the lil fella he keeps holding is dead and stuffed or if it's just being still to conserve energy
ОтветитьThanks!!!
ОтветитьI would like to add that Mugger crocodile's name comes from the sanskrit word makar which in hindi is magar or magarmuch and then got turned to Mugger crocodile which is like saying Crocodile Crocodile. Historically magar/makara refered to the mythical water monster.
ОтветитьI wish they weren't mercilessly butchered by millions just to make handbags and watch bands..
ОтветитьQuick question; how well do gators traverse landscapes? I grew up on a property in Mississippi with 75 acres and a massive pond. It had fish and snakes, but no gators. 9 years in of living there, one suddenly appeared in our pond! Our property was surrounded by a huge bayou, but it still seems like a very long way to travel on land to get to the pond. My town was right on the river, so maybe it followed the river somewhere through to the bayou, then to the pond? Could never figure it out.
ОтветитьSarcosuchus, Deinosuchus and Purussaurus were all the biggest of their time and their side of the world... i wish that there was more knowledge on them seeing as 2 of them were not even mentioned in this vid
ОтветитьGreat video! Thank you for sharing!
ОтветитьCuban crocodiles have become my absolute favourite since the day I saw one literally gallop on ground. My favourite prehistoric croc is a kaprosuchus and knowing that we still have galloping crocodiles makes me terrified but also very excited
ОтветитьIsn't Chantler bad? or osmething--
ОтветитьThey out competed the dinosaurs... 😆
ОтветитьThe image of thresher sharks while mentioning the goblin shark may be misleading
ОтветитьIm pretty sure the sheer muscle mass of the salt croc acts as armour
ОтветитьThe False Gharial can very well be a crocodilian. The "Pirula" videos on Crocodilia are great on it. Maybe the whole tree is shaped with Gharial beeing the most basal crocodilians
ОтветитьThe Philippine Crocodile is the rarest one, with some estimates of less than 100 left in the wild. The species is poorly understood, but may be slightly more "abundant" than previously thought - wild individuals have recently been found hiding/buried on steep slopes, an adaptation for staying safe during the dry season (and possibly affecting population counts)? They're also maybe the least social crocodilian, coming together to mainly to mate.
