This is unrelated but I wish ddr2 ram was cheaper. It would have been great to upgrade it to 8gb. Looks like you are making the most of it.

Nice! Glad to see it’s working better than ever! The upgrades have certainly helped out, but the software also makes a big difference. It might not be the latest and greatest, but sometimes older software is also better. Plus a built in DVD drive is always a bonus. Seeing playback under Mojave reminds me of the PowerBook G4 experience, almost the same in performance! (Or lack of) Nice to see you’ll get good use out of it!

My recommendation is to use enhanced h264ify if you only want to disable 60fps. Or better yet, use tampermonkey and have user scripts for the websites that use them. Greasy fork is huge. Has a lot of CPU enhancement scripts for bigger websites.

Fun fact: the newest version of Teams also works with 10.11, at least as of a couple months ago. The most important feature that 10.11 unlocks, however, is use of the vitally-important SmoothMouse. SmoothMouse fixes the mouse acceleration in OSX, which is so horrifically bad, that it is effectively unusable.

Mojave works great on my Late 2008 13” MacBook!

Still fairly fast and snappy, Mojave is faster than Catalina by a fair amount… and is also the last version to support old 32 bit software like old, classic games!

It's a shame Chrome doesn't work on El Cap any more, but it's to be expected from an eight year old Mac OS X sadly. Weird though because 1501 Windows 10 from the same time is still supported.

Isn't it always said that Apple devices are more durable than PCs? You have longer support etc? Why are you having such problems with your laptop and my similarly old HP Elitebook 8440p is running the latest Ubuntu version 23.04 with no problems. I have the latest software, the latest browsers, all features are on board! When I see videos like yours, I wonder if Apple is just kidding their users? hmm...

I'm thinking twice before I upgrade my macOS..earlier, I had run previous version of macOS from El-Capitan, but, due to old version I had to upgrade and accidentally erased the HDD in it and send back for the second macOS installations..there, they installed the macOS Mavericks on my Macbook Mid 2010, and then trie to upgrade it from Mavericks to Sierra and the final High Sierra..as my support iPhones had been broken on iOS 15, I buy a newly iPhone that only supports for 64-bits and then I tried to upgrade through Catalina Patcher which runs until to this year 2023 and beyond for that to support than using older iTunes that won't be running for the 64-bit of iPhones replacing the  music and  TV.

Is El Capitan safely usable in 2024 with the certificate workarounds you showed. Wanting to repurpose my mid 2009 MBP for my son to use. Upgraded RAM and SSD.
