Joe, your narration is 10/10. Ive spent many a year floating on CVN’s it’s nice to see how the other half lives. Do good things mate!

The pest control place I work at in Florida got paid to go to the Ascension Island to tent dozens of buildings at the military base for termites. Our crew guys loved working there. They got fed well at the base and got to fish after work. 👍

so it's 1,000 miles to Africa or South America. Why go 4,700 miles from Nova Scotia for Gravel when you can get so much closer and likely cheaper?

Napoleon was exiled there on that island when nobody lived there. I think he died there.

I noticed that the tug that tied on to the stern to keep you from rocking was American flagged. What was it doing at Ascension? Was it sent over specifically for this gravel unloading operation?

may I suggest something that will enrich your videos...the generic played out music should never make it into your vids. your content is unique and fascinating all by itself and for people like me (and most watching) hearing all the different sounds & new noises that come with working on these huge ships is FAR BETTER than any music. raw audio over broken records is my request & my suggestion. thnx.

My shipping company at the time,British and Commonwealth used to have the contract for the St.Helena and Ascension Islands. Two ships did the service the Goodhope Castle and Southampton Castle had the run,but sadly the former caught fire and so to continue the service company freighters did the run and I was on one Clan Sutherland when we visited in 1971.
