There is no Rocky without Apollo Creed. RIP Carl Weathers. An actor that elevated actors and movies for decades.
ОтветитьRocky is my fave franchise of all time. Shout out to Stallone for writing the one of the most compelling underdog stories ever told. RIP to legends Carl Weathers & Tony Burton
ОтветитьWise tony wise advisor
ОтветитьThis scene was all about Creed needing to know if he deserved to be champion. That fight was destroying him inside and nobody close to him understood what he was going through. To be an undisputed champion and icon and suddenly have a club fighter almost beat him must have been unbearble for him. Those around him, particularly Duke, loved him and wanted to protect him the same way Mickey tried to protect Rocky from Clubber Lang. Unfortunately, fighters like Apollo and Rocky can't live with not knowing the truth. They were both living in a world of absolutes. They were so much alike in their ways and they both knew it.
ОтветитьTurning apollo from an arrogant showboat to an honor bound fighter unwilling to accept victory by technicality was a great move from Sly.
ОтветитьWhat are you afraid of Tony? Interesting that Carl called him by his real name and they kept it in the movie. RIP to two legends.
ОтветитьHere after the Tyson-Paul fight. Paul won but the only ones who got beaten were the audience.
ОтветитьTony was basically trying to protect his fighter.
ОтветитьToo bad Stallone is a goofball.
ОтветитьIronic How in Rocky 1 Rocky didn't think he could beat Apollo now in 2 Apollo wants to prove he can beat Him
ОтветитьRip Carl and Tony🙏🕊️
ОтветитьThis scene gave me chills.
ОтветитьApollo offered the first fight to an unknown fighter almost as a joke. Then the joke turned on him, and now he's acting like a victim? He has himself to blame for any embarrassment he accrued because of this fiasco. Rocky is the proverbial immovable object to Creed's unstoppable force, and the champ should have gone on to other game like Tony suggested.
ОтветитьI always laugh when Apollo asks Tony if he think he won the fight. Tony sits back, and doesn’t want to say what he was really thinking. But says ‘you won by decision’. Tony knows 😂
ОтветитьCan yoy imagine Tony Burton in Glory the movie? His passion is i credible!
ОтветитьOops incredible!
Ответитьtwo legends, RIP
ОтветитьI miss Carl. "Man, you guys shouldn't have just left me back there! Well, we didn't think you'd like where we're going." - Force 10 from Navarone
ОтветитьI can respect Apollo here. It wasn't just a matter of publicity. He needed to know himself if it was luck or if Rocky actually could win. Even after the third movie, he still wanted to know if he could beat him. A matter of pride and honor.
Ответить"I won, but I didn't beat him"
ОтветитьThis was Vegeta after his fight with Goku.
ОтветитьHere after Kony2012... I knew Weathers was innocent all along. smdh
ОтветитьCarl Weathers roll as Apollo was criminally underrated. RIP Carl I loved you.
ОтветитьThe beauty in all of this is that Apollo was the rich, famous, champion boxer and he was beaten by Rocky, a poor, tough, from the streets underdog, when Rocky 3 rolls around Rocky becomes what Apollo is here and he lost it all, and it took Apollo seeing Rocky’s point of view from part 2 to train Rocky to the level of what made him hungry the eye of the tiger, Apollos even says that to him. It’s what Apollo lost in his match against Rocky here and he understood that when he came back to train Rocky, it was vindication for both of them at the end of Rocky 3.
ОтветитьNobody beat me, not even close. U never even fought me. I've never said my name. U never won if u never fought me
ОтветитьThe best scene in the Rocky franchise, the best scene Sylvester Stallone has ever written, and possibly one of the best acted scenes of all time, truly mean that. So much going on in this enter scene, the pride, ego, warrior frustration in Apollo, the father figure of Duke, the only man Apollo can trust to tell it like it is. This scene was repeated near enough in Rocky Balboa with Mason Dixon, and his old trainer, but for me this scene is so much more powerful. There’s fear in Tony Burton’s eyes, there’s reflection in Carl Weathers. I’m not sure that either man was resigned to defeat, but Duke knows Apollo will have to go through hell again to beat Rocky, and he doesn’t want him in pain anymore after his career! Amazing scene!
ОтветитьI wonder how Rocky from the second movie would have fared against Clubber Lang if he never fought Apollo. What if he just dominated the rest of the roster and climbed his way up. So much so that instead of coasting at the start of the third movie, fighting bums to retain his title, he was fighting actual contenders. Without the grind/experience of ever beating Apollo. Could this Rocky ever hope to beat Clubber Lang on the first try?
If Rocky lost when he finally reaches the big stage, never having held the title (since he didn't beat Apollo). Would he call it quits at that point? Another factor is that since he didn't reach the champion stage of his career. Maybe he would have lived more modestly so his crazy mansion arc would have not happened. The pressure to be the champion for financial reasons wouldn't have been so high.
The irony is that Apollo dominated Rocky in the second fight and by the 14th round had the fight won. But he became obsessed with knocking Rocky out and Rockys chin was too good. By going toe to toe he gifted Rocky the chance to knock him out. That's how he lost the second fight. It is was because of his pride not his ability.
ОтветитьApparently this scene was the inspiration for the movie Frozen 😂
ОтветитьCarl Weather's should have been nominated for an oscar his performance was outstanding. "RIP" 😢
ОтветитьAt the time, a lot of people thought Rocky won the first fight. Apollo's kids were even bullied at school for this. So Apollo took the rematch, even though it was high risk low reward. There were far better opponents for Apollo out there, who were easier to beat for more money. But he chose Rocky in the end anyway. Sometimes it's the public that decides the fights, or the ego of one fighter. It's not always about the money and/or keeping that "0". My hats off to Creed for taking the fight all fight fans out there wanted.
ОтветитьThis scene is the best acting moment of all the Rocky franchise. It gives me chills. Even as a kid, watching this on VHS tape. This scene gave me goosebumps. Tony’s acting is amazing. And Carl’s “Man, I WON but I didn’t BEAT him.” Hits. However, that line “Honest…” and Tony goes on about “I saw you beat that man, like I never saw you beat another man… and he just kept coming after you!” wow. That dialogue is epic.
ОтветитьGuy was a football player who just walked in and started acting in Rocky...such natural talent.
ОтветитьJake Paul lmao!😂
ОтветитьAre those bags of money behind him? 😂
ОтветитьRocky=Goku Apollo=Vegeta nuff said
ОтветитьI know what your feeling....LET IT GO....LET IT GOOO
ОтветитьEveryone needs someone to say No !
Ответить135 let it go
ОтветитьActually a well done scene cause it explains why Apollo would fight him again. It delves into his pride being wounded and people questioning him as a fighter, and as a man. He was supposed to beat Rocky easily in the first fight, but he didn't - and his pride can't let it go. Even his trainer telling him, let it go....
I do wish Apollo came across more emotional, and not as corporate (though I get the juxtaposition to Rocky's blue collar setting) but still a well done scene why someone in Apollo's position would fight Rocky again.
I love that the first 2 Rocky movies explored the idea that the people that stand between you and your goals are often good people with admirable goals of their own.
ОтветитьPride comes before a fall- proverbs 16.18
ОтветитьEvery champion should take a page from Apollo, his fighting spirit was so unbreakable it even costed him his life.
ОтветитьI saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man kept coming after you. Now we don't need no man like that in our lives. . " the way he delivered that line was perfection. he sounded like he loved apollo like he was his family
ОтветитьI won but i dident clip him
ОтветитьApollo is willing to risk his health& reputation just to get rocky back in the ring against a true warrior to the end
ОтветитьA true boxers statement - I won but I didn't beat him
