ОтветитьThere's a much easier way to tell the difference. Baroque ONLY ever has strings and harpsichord. Classical dropped the harpsichord and has brass as well as a much wider range of instruments
ОтветитьYou pronounce baroque wrong. It's ba-rock not ba-roke.
ОтветитьUhh, truth in advertising, please. One minute theory and you took 1 minute and 45 seconds?
LOL.
Actually I didn't mind spending the extra time since I learned a lot. I had zero music training until 65 years of age with the piano. Now it's a new language opening up a new world. Merci beaucoup.
the difference is if it aint baroque don't fix it
ОтветитьThere's always either a pastoral or majestic feels of baroque music. Like ambient music in an afternoon tea party
Classical music on the other hand, is rigid, imposing, and demands awe from its listeners. That's why they're for concert halls and other stage platforms
Baroque is the shredder, Classical is the mainstream dude
ОтветитьDifference is that Baroque music is good.
ОтветитьThank you.

ОтветитьWhat I like about your video is that it's not necessarily all the distinct characteristics of Baroque vs Classical, but rather a different perspective on it. I guess it depends on what you're looking for but for me this is a rather more specific difference that isn't discussed too much in terms of the differences between Classical and Baroque.
ОтветитьSight reading Classical is easier that Baroque, for me anyway.
ОтветитьAnd I thought it was instrumentation ie. No Brass as they had dent figured ho to make brass in horn shape
ОтветитьI like medieval and renaissance music. But even then there seem to be different genres.
And I don't know how to describe them.
Thanks great info!
ОтветитьIt’s funny that I (Idiot that is bad at music history AND English) understood this better then the german music lessons at school 🤠
ОтветитьSIGHHH, I need to write a paper on this topic (especially about the transition from Baroque to classical Era music (and the physics behind the change). --Also the history.
Do you have any info about sources I can use on the topic.
I don’t agree. ‘Classical’ is used in two contexts: classical music as you describe it at the begin of your video; as opposed to the music of Mozart, Haydn etc, which is not referred to as ‘classical music’ but as music from the ‘classical period’. So baroque music/classical music is not a valide distinction.
ОтветитьSo in other words. Baroque is like if you written "The white big massive dog sat slowly but comfortably on the mat," while classical is as if you wrote "the dog, which was big and massive, sat slowly on the mat in a comfortable manner,"
ОтветитьI love these so useful pls come back to do it😭😭😭
ОтветитьRomantic era is best. Change my mind.
ОтветитьTo be honest, I just really hote baroque music, it just sounds bad to me personaly.
ОтветитьBaroque music was the Dance music of its age ;)
ОтветитьFrench Baroque is best imo.
Ответитьif you're somehow to bored to watch a minute long vid
tldr
baroque: flowery, phrases repeat forever and not so much answer-replies
classical: phrases don't go on forever, there's ansewr-reply, symmetry
the toccata & fugue in Dm is not a baroque piece. it is a galant piece.
ОтветитьWhats the diffrence?
baroque era composers are all fat
I hope I can understand some poin

Missing many important points
ОтветитьI found out that I prefer Baroque.
ОтветитьI know it's meant to be short but this is offensively brief. This is nowhere near the true difference between the periods and honestly, you have to take note that there is a constant transition from late Renaissance polyphonic music though the earlier "Rococo" stages to what we know as Classical. Not just the difference between a single phrase in a "Bach" piece and Eine Kleine. Baroque is extremely systematic and structured. It is by far the pinacle of mathematical or formulaic music. Sure, the harmony of Baroque, especially in keyboard works, can be extremely vibrant in comparison to the simplistic majority I-IV-V-I of Classical but Baroque also does this very often.
ОтветитьBaroque music seems to be more (than classical) similar to rock music.
ОтветитьMusic at the beginning?
ОтветитьI’m not a music history buff, only been studying it for 8 years so it’s nice to learn these things.
ОтветитьZz
Ответитьthx u helped alot in comprison to my teacher who hadnt taught me crap in 5 years. thx a looot
ОтветитьAll this is fair enough but I think it's fine for someone to refer to baroque, classical and romantic music as classical music. Classical doesn't just have one meaning or else classical music would be the music they had in classical Greece. Classical speaks to the period but it also speaks to the fact that it's classic, the finest of its time.
ОтветитьHello, I was wondering what genre of music Erik Satie’s gnossiennes would be. Thanks!
ОтветитьAmazing content in your videos, you should not stop publishing. I wish I would see more of this!
ОтветитьMusic Gcse 2019
ОтветитьWhat about Romantic ?
ОтветитьIs there music that could be considered a combination of both? Or to ‘phrase’ it in another way, is it always very clear if one piece of music is either Baroque or Classical?
ОтветитьThank you so much! I have an exam and I was really struggling with how to differentiate!
ОтветитьNo shit???
ОтветитьwHaZ De DiFfWeNCE
ОтветитьBaroque is for peasants
