Car Stereo Wiring Harnesses & Interfaces Explained - What Do The Wire Colors Mean?

If i understand clearly i can run all speakers wires from the headunit adaptor to the speakers in my Kenwood KAC-D8105 5 channel amp along with the blue signal wire. Where do i plug in the rca bass knob? Thanks for a great video and keeping tbe explanations simple for old guys like me. The Atoto kit I installed was fairly straight forward for the labeling and color coating of wires. It was the 4 sets of speakers + and -, and then the ground, ignition and straight power from the battery. Thank you for your additional information. It gave me confidence and reaffirmed my installation.

Great video! I do have one question, though. In newer vehicles where the factory radio is able to detect whether or not the car is in park before allowing you to perform certain tasks, would it be possible to have an aftermarket radio communicate with the gearshift to do the same thing, at least in some cases, or would tapping into the parking brake wire still be required like in older cars? For example, in some Hyundai Tucson models, the factory radio will not allow you to pair a new phone to Bluetooth unless the car is in park.

Y’all idk anything about cars, do I have to unplug my car battery before installing a stereo? Or rewiring a stereo?

Yellow constant to battery Positive or negative ? Black Ground ( black typically is negative ). Red accessory. ( red typically is positive ). Constant to battery means what. Positive or negative ? Dc systems utilize two poles why three wires for supply ? Why don’t they simply specify what pole either positive or negative. Wiring the speakers an orangutan can figure out Trying to instal this system in a marine application with a simple positive negative on off breaker. Good information nice presentation but vague in some details.

My pioneer instructions say do not connect the yellow wire by passing it through engine compartment to battery. I found a constant source on the brake light switch or is there a better location?

I could not understand half of the stuff - you see, we all can just make a harness and talk about it - HOW about going to actual cars and installing the wire to the "HAND BREAK" - or Steering Wheel Controls - you spent a lot of time soldering and connections - not what we come here to find out - create a diagram showing all the connections between the harness, adapters, interfaces, head unit, etc.. talking about something you are having in your hand does not help get the person to the next step of connecting something correctly.

I’ve watched this video 3x and decided to hookup a aftermarket radio in my mom 2011 dodge caliber bcuz the factory went out. Now I’ve done plenty of installation before in the past, but after wiring up the harness and connecting the speaker wires accidentally

Question...If I wanted to power a switched relay for other appliances... (as my truck they are impossible to find switched circuits in the fuse box)... ... would it be ok to "T" off either the red acc wire, (does that provide constant 12vdc when the key is on, to energize the coil on the relay?) or would it be better to use the blue wire... I assume that is only providing 12vdc when the radio is on... which would be fine 99% of the time as the headunit (double din in this case) would always be on with one of the options... I think the relay would draws about 70MA?? I have three items to power... two are small LEDs...(grill and backup camera LED probably less than 20MA between them, and a dash cam ... which draws about 400MA..? Thank You.

I have been considering replacing the older aftermarket JVC CD/Radio in my 'new- to -me' used truck. The CD player seems to work OK aside from the occasional problem ejecting the CD. Not a big problem....The Stereo sound is loud and clear. I simply remove the detachable front panel and pull the CD out with my fingers. When I decide to get a new unit, the main purpose will lie in getting a unit with a strong AM/FM signal reception. No Bluetooth, no phone connectability, no unneeded whistles & bells. Just loud sound, clear sound & an EQ. Then I'll get a PRO to install it. I'm no Electrician. I can do most anything, but Electronics isn't one of them.......
