Thanks to Alaska Soap and Such for sending me stuff to experiment with!
ОтветитьIntriguing and cool
ОтветитьSo a sneaky peak with TS
ОтветитьThis is awesome! I used to use tussah silk when I first started making soap, while I can tell the difference between the soap with or without, it wasn't impactful enough and I don't use it for any other product so I decided to eliminate it from my recipe and just use other ingredients for additives that I can use in other products. I am intrigued though by using something more easily obtained.
ОтветитьOmg.... I've been looking into silk all week!
ОтветитьInteresting that your bars are harder than normal, not something I'd expect! It'll be interesting to hear what you find out!😊
I'm glad to be back to watching the channel. Been so busy planning for our son's June wedding, it's been hard to watch my normal video content!😢😢😢
However, I'm going to make an effort to be here daily!❤
Someone told me that including corn fibre it’s a silk substitution
ОтветитьAs a vegan I find it strange to consider silk vegan but not honey. I think hardcore vegans wouldn’t feel silk is vegan at all. So if someone was selling their soap with silk as vegan they should be cautious. If it’s for you and your family do you.
Ответитьwell I think I will be picking up dandelion from my yard this summer 🥰😅
ОтветитьThe soap looks super cool, thanks for the explanation
ОтветитьMy comment was deleted ?
ОтветитьI think that's a swedish dish (sponge) cloth? I love using them!
ОтветитьAlways admire your hair Mrs S&C, has such a beautiful shine to it. 🥰 I did not know about Dandelion fibres, how cool. Impressed with how much oil they have. Love love love this dive series. I'm always curious to discover what goodies can be put in soaps and currently only use the Tussah.
ОтветитьI do a dandelion infused olive oil and use it for lotion bars.
ОтветитьThat’s a Swedish Towel, they are a great eco friendly cleaning cloth use it in p,ace of a sponge or paper towel for wiping up.
ОтветитьU should try corn silk. Most vegans won’t eat or use anything that is derived from animals including honey n silk. They won’t even use beeswax. And they won’t even shop in ur store if u use any of it. N there is a group of vegans that are fine with silk because that worm is going to shed that silk no matter what just like bees will make wax n honey no matter what and it’s good for them to remove the honey n the wax. If they only knew the thousands of animals n insects r killed a day to grow organic food. Everything like bunnies, snakes frogs lizards aunts worms. This one guy who is a organic commercial farmer and he said that 10-20 thousand animals and insects are intentionally killed by the farmers to grow the organic veggie’s n fruits that they eat. So, considering that I don’t have a problem with using honey, beeswax even though I did switch over to candelilla wax for my body butters from beeswax cause beeswax is a pain in the ass to work w I use soy for my candles now as well. I only use beeswax in my lip balm but I might consider completely changing over. But I luv beeswax n I’m obsessed w Honey. Thks for doing these videos.
ОтветитьI infuse my oils with the plants for my non soap products. I don’t make any claims beyond anti itch nutrients. I get good responses from my customers.
ОтветитьI love listening to you tumble down the rabbit hole 🤣
ОтветитьYay, another plant thing to experiment with this summer! I also want to make a jewel weed soap, and do something similar to your soap nuts with the horse chestnuts in my front yard (if I can get any before the squirrels hide them all on me).
ОтветитьAnother awesome video. I love and need variety and you give it to us.
ОтветитьYou also can use fresh dandelion petals as natural colorant. It creates a bright yellow but as most yellow-ish colorants it will fade over time when not stored dark
ОтветитьYou can also make a wonderful tea from dandelions
ОтветитьThis is really interesting and helpful. Thanks for doing this video.
ОтветитьAhh I never would have thought of using dandelion fluff like tussah silk! Now I'm going to be out in the yards catching dandelion fluff lol
ОтветитьI do love dandelions. Can’t wait for tomorrow. ❤
ОтветитьThanks for all of your information about soap. Love your channel
ОтветитьI’ve used tussah silk many times in my batches and it’s ok. I probably won’t purchase anymore when it’s gone. One thing that goes into every single one of my batches is eggs! I find they give an instant facelift. The oils I use make the finished bar ‘silky’. I do love your videos! Thanks🌹I wanted to add that I do not sell any of my products so I can talk about the wonderful properties in handcrafted soaps😊
ОтветитьI'm actually looking forward to the dandelions coming out this year. I want to try this. Really looking forward to the upcoming test episodes! You're awesome.
ОтветитьDandelion infused oil - whatever your infusing base oil is - is amazing for the skin. I know because I make it. I use it in my skin oil moisturizing blend. It's phenomenal for breakouts & preventing them, it seems to have astringent-type properties when I use it for my skin. I notice a beautiful smoothness to my skin & my pores don't clog as they normally would. It also helps with eczema & psoriasis issues - I make a salve using dandelion specifically for people who I know suffering with these conditions & they swear it works like a hot-damn. I have seen the results, which amazed me, quite frankly.
Dandelion internally is spectacular for the liver - most of us now have fatty livers because of our diets & all the crappy sodas we drink, plus all of the refined, processed foods we eat - and again for helping clear psoriasis & eczema. It's very high in iron, so also great for people who are anemic. It has a very long history of use. The entire plant can be eaten. Flowers in salads (raw) and in honeys. The young greens, early in the spring, are amazing in salads, and also incredible for cooking with. I infuse the flowers into my raw honey, which gives a very nice flavour in teas & coffees. AND the roots are made into 'coffee substitutes', and have been for a very long time. Great bitter taste, similar to coffee, especially if mixed with chicory roots. The entire plant is medicinal & edible. Oh yes, and the sap from the stems is great for clearing warts.
NOW I am hell-bent on making dandelion soap, which I will be doing this year, and adding this to my line. I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me before, but yes, definitely doing this.
Spanks so much for the video 🙂
I make a face soap with dandelion extract (both the silks in the lye, and dandelion infused olive oil) and fragrance it with lemon and tea tree essential oils ... My sister who has chronic cystic acne has noticed a reduction in breakouts since she started exclusively using this soap. What part of the soap is helping? Who knows ... could be any of it ... but it is a beautiful soap none the less lol
ОтветитьI make dandelion syrup. Definitely going to try this in a small batch of soap. Thank you for sharing ❤️
ОтветитьI wonder if milkweed seed fluff would do anything fun!
ОтветитьHow does one join the Discord?
Ответить❤ I have been spreading dandelion seeds around my house for a couple of years..... I love them for colour pop around my planter boxes and for the bee food they provide ❤
ОтветитьIm not vegan, but is consider the way silk is extracted from the silk worm is unethical so i would look for the plant silk alternatives. Milk thistle seeds are delicious to eat, so i guess dandelion seeds could be similar. Corn silk is another type of plant silk i will be collecting. ❤
ОтветитьThis is Alaska Soaper, formerly Alaska Soap and Such. The soap you showed was a wine soap. Using a Strawberry Rhubarb wine made by Bear Creek Distillery in Homer Alaska. Thank you so much. This was exciting to see.
