What’s your guys technique for edging? Do you do it the way Conor does or some other way?

Great video. Just got the Ego Line IQ trimmer. Great for auto loading but I’m still trying to master edging a driveway, just doesn’t feel right. Again nice job

Watching these guys tap their speed feed heads on the concrete is giving me anxiety. The plastic wears and then the spring pops through. I’ve had the same head on for 5 years. Just a small bump in the grass. Why waste time/money buying new caps when the solution is so easy?

I was new to lawn mowing and purchased a mower, trimmer, edger etc. together. It took me a few rounds to get used to the trimmer. I feel it is more convenient to get trimming and edging done in quickly instead of taking out a new tool, swapping batteries, etc. It takes some attempts to know your trimmer especially the balancing part.

I like this kid! Not got my power tools yet but saving and Stihl is the plan. In Scotland the edges aren't as neat or maintained as this so am gonna have me work cut out to get remedial works done first. People have fences or hedges and the grass verges on pavements go right too (and over) the edge so hmmm

I think edging from inside you don"t have enough visibility than from outside, you have plenty control of the edger.

I find it easier to get a straighter line walking in the grass backwards then on the concrete, you are right though you do need to learn how to do it both ways. My families weed eater is a curve shaft, it works great but I am to tall for it and would love to buy a straight shaft, anyways I hold it it straight up and backwards and control the throttle with my pinky and do half throttle.

At age 66 it's kinda hard holding a string trimmer at a certain distance from the grass at times I find myself either holding it too low or to high. So I still use a Troy Bilt walk behind gas edger. I have to admit using a string trimmer looks a whole lot better!

What about the positioning? Should the string be going straight down just over the dirt area or just over the sidewalk? How far down should you let the string go, let it hit the dirt (or sidewalk) or just hover it above? And how should the string rotation direction be? Should the lower side only rotate away from you (in case debris is projected so it goes away from you?

That kills yer weed eater ,it wears out the clutch .you'll gett about half the life out of the machine. Only do that for somthing small far away in the back that's not worth carrying an edger back tbeir. Not to mention sting is getting somewhat expensive and stuff always hits you in the face it's terrible. Buy an edger

just a heads up, you do not have to buy a stick edger , at least not when using Sthil all of the Sthil heads are interchangeable so all you have to do it by the head and put it on your stick trimmer

Is there any problem with turning the trimmer with gas tank over like that? It seems like gas would leak out or it would not get gas from the tank turned upside down. Thanks.

I’m a home owner but I prefer standing in the grass. I feel I can see my line better and have more control when in the grass at least with my Husqvarna expandable. I also walk backwards or forward depending on the situation.

Hit myself in the face with a rock last year while trimming, I was wearing safety glasses but it still hurt. Now I wear goggles with a face shield attached when I trim.

I finally broke down and got an edger attachment. Mainly because I don't do this enough to build up the technique to do it correctly or acceptably good looking. The other annoyance was that I would need to break out a socket driver to remove the guard on my trimmer and risk losing the bolt. Now, I just use the edger for when it's really over grown or I need to re-establish the nice little trench. For touchups, I just flip the trimmer (with guard on) to get a quick clean line. With the trench established from the edger, the line from the trimmer seems to settle in better and stay straight.
