wow this looks awesome! 3rd era skyrim would be sick, but sadly I didnt enjoy morrowind that much, I've given it a try a few times the farthest I got was going up north to find the little villages(sorry forgot the name) maybe some day i'll try it again. But this seems really interesting, I would certainly give myself another go at morrowind because I understand how much its loved, and I love TES but it feels so alien to play.

This makes me feel homesick for what was never delivered. This is exactly what I've been trying to articulate for years now. I love Skyrim, but it could have been such a deeper, more primal place to explore. I feel like I should get involved with this project.

shame that fan works like these are slooooooow and with a high chance of just dying out of the blue, i'd play this and TR but i much prefer playing it once they are finished, which might never happen.

i get why bethesda decided to dumb down and water down the elder scrolls. they want to appeal to as many idiots as possible. the old lore had a lot of potential though. they could have made something new and unique and relatively groundbreaking instead of the generic bullshit they have been giving us since oblivion. don';t get me wrong, i love oblivion and skyrim, but knowing what possibly could have been as well makes it bittersweet.

Just a heads up Celtic is pronounced Kel-Tic not Sell-Tic

Seen that way of pronouncing it way too much because of the Boston Celtics basketball team lol

Because it had not been been castrated and served to the lowest common denominator yet. Elder Scrolls truly shows off just how people cannot help themselves when it comes to choosing comfort over quality.

I like the lack of Dwemer ruins. Seeing Dwemer ruins so abundant over all of Skyrim never seemed right to me. A few here and there, sure, with a much higher density in the eastern half (with the Blackreach subterranean highway network connecting major Dwemer cities in the east with the scattered few in the west), but far more appropriate would have been ancient Falmer (Snow Elf) ruins, showing how they were once the dominant elven race of Skyrim.

It would seem the Celtic cultural influences in Skyrim were dropped except for the culture of the Reachmen. But it seems to be only creepy druid pagan witch stuff.
The Bretons of the real world are the descendants of Brythonic Celts who fled to the Brittany peninsula in what is now France from the invading Anglo-Saxons.
Bretons in The Elder Scrolls seem to be depicted in three ways. Uptight, prudish, pompous, assholes. French, just straight up French. Or paganistic (Reachmen).
There seems to be no parallels to Gallic Celts amongst the Bretons, only Brythonic ones.
The Nords seem to have been the ones with Gallic influence. Until now, where they have none.

I will say that Markarth and the Reach was probably the best written part of TES V Skyrim. Mostly because it was the only place with more complicated morals.

Morrowind lore was so amazing as a kid, when played Oblivion in the army I thought Imperial was no culture, basically the vanilla faction with some roman aesthetics that served as the clean fundament to place more interesting cultures on top of like Dunmer and Redguards. What even is their lore? You get bonus to speech check, so they are merchants? But they never seemed particularly mercantile to me, High Elves seem more interested in commerce than Imperials, though probably because running stores are easy occupancy for immigrants and most high elves not residing in the summerset isles are immigrants I would think.

Honestly, even as someone not overly a fan of the Nordic race compared to some others, I most certainly agree that the Old Lore for Skyrim was a lot more interesting

Sure, the Dragon Cult getting a lot of traction in the story was cool and all, I liked it but still, lost a lot of the cool history of Skyrim. They even dropped the ball when it cake to what they could've done for ths Snow Elves (albeit that's another story altogether).

Overall, the Stormcloaks pushing for the worship of the Atmoran Gods over the Imperial ones would've made for a much better story. Ulfric's character on its own is one thing, but had he been given a similar role in-universe by being seen as "the next Hoag Merkiller", then we could've seen a more dynamic Civil War.

Imagine Ulfric and the Stormcloaks end up mirroring/echoing the Nords of the First Era, who fought against the Allesian Order and their Imperial Cult's influence in Skyrim?

Seeing them push forward the worship of the Atmoran Pantheon, their OG belief system, would've made for a much more interesting Civil War

One of the best critiques I’ve heard of Skyrim was by Totalbiscuit: the game has the breadth of the lake but the depth of a puddle.

I love the game and have great memories from my time with it, but I’ve always felt it was lacking in depth and complexity from a storytelling and world building perspective

A great example is the Forsworn, which feels kinda slapdashed together and I feel like wasnt clearly explained in-game what their deal was. And I’m not sure why they are tribal-like when they are just basically Breton nationalists. And your quest to bust the leaders out of jail doesn’t impact the world at all. Zero impact.

And it’s like that way with everything - a little undercooked with almost no impact on the world.

I’m just starting this video but either way I see a lot of positive comments and I’ve gotten into the deeper TES lore binge and the internal community politics just from watching Dagoth Ur AI voice memes of all things, but now I’m hooked on the Kirkbride-era discussions. So a thanks to ya ahead of time, I look forward to the video!

Get Kirkbride back for TES6 and get him a good co-writer like Rolsten. If 6 is like Starfield, then it will be Duke Nukem: Forever all over again. If it takes 15 years for this to come out and it isn't even as decent as past games, let alone MW. Then Elder Scrolls is a dead franchise

Hoping for some update videos in the future!
