Do you have a video on how you keep your knives sharp, cause that thing is deadly!
ОтветитьBeautiful Work
Ответитьlearn to file yourselve before teaching others! this is so bad way to file a any fish
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, but I'll stick to catch and release, and eat chicken :)
ОтветитьThere good eating
ОтветитьDon’t like pike. Walleye a thousand times better
ОтветитьGreat video. Good tip about the fatty blood layer. Thanks.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing your techniques! I grew up enjoying eating northern pike and still do today! Unfortunately I’ve often endured the process of picking my teeth with pike bones!
ОтветитьGreat Video!!!!
ОтветитьBeautifully boned, well impressed
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьExcellent tutorial! 👍👍
ОтветитьWhat brand of fillet and electric knife are you using?
ОтветитьI just use newspaper. NO TIME to deslime.
ОтветитьFor the love of all that is holy. Who the hell would go through such a process in order to filet a god dam northern? Bleed them out? ice them down for 24 hours? add vinegar for 30 minutes? use a scrub brush to remove the slime? hell no. Man up people. It's a fish for christ sake. Get your precious hands a little dirty and slimy and filet the dam thing like your a fricking man. On a positive note. I love my set of bubba knives. Nothing better!
ОтветитьGreat job. I can tell that having a sharp fillet knife is key.
ОтветитьWait a lot of Pike in my day and a lot of other fish. But yeah the dreaded why bones always got to watch out for those less you don't mind chewing on Fishbones
ОтветитьThe 'guts' part was gross. Why not fully gut the fish properly before getting it anywhere near your cutting board? The squeegee was not enough in terms of keeping fecal matter out of what you are going to eat.
ОтветитьI never had a problem with pinbones. They are nature's way to make sure you don't eat too fast, or swallow without chewing.
ОтветитьSo then isn’t this pickled Pike?
ОтветитьI let the pike hang outside for a few minutes depending on outside temperature. This allows the slime to solidify. Then I roll it in newspapers to remove any remaining slime.
ОтветитьYou try to do the y bone cuts, you lose a whole bunch of meat and nutrients, not to mention what you lose from the skin bro..
ОтветитьIm lazy, y steak is my go to. A few Lakota dudes i served in usmc with showed me this hack, faster cleaner, tastier, and no wasted effort.
ОтветитьThe slime is antibacterial...
ОтветитьThanks for the diagram of the bone structure. Very helpful when you understand the orientation of the fillet on the table.
ОтветитьI followed this tip to bleed fish to death before processing and I'm here to tell you that I will do it for every fish I intend to eat from now on. It makes that much improvement in the flavor. I cut the throat at the base of the gills straight up to the backbone. Hang the fish in the water off the side of the boat on a stringer about 10 minutes or so and either put into a cooler with ice until you get home, or bleed the fish when you get home, and then process immediately. There will be way less mess on your table also. I have also seen guys bleed catfish by cutting off the tail and hanging the fish by the gills to bleed it out. Not sure if both methods work for all fish, but the point is that bleeding results in better tasting fish. Period.
ОтветитьVery nice information. Thank you.
ОтветитьExcellent video...much appreciated.
Ответить16 minute video on how to fillet a fish need a video on how to fillet a fish is less than one minute it's not brain science everybody
ОтветитьI love guys like this I like details. Thank you.
ОтветитьWow that's way too much time an effort for such a small amount of meat. I would rather just chase other species as to take 2 hours to prepare 6 fish.
ОтветитьWhat did you do with the belly pieces??
Ответитьman great work.. beautiful tutorial.. but for the sake of the video get a clean cutting board & keep it bleached
ОтветитьGood one, thanks!
ОтветитьThis was the very best pike filleting video I have ever seen!!! AWESOME Job, Sir !!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьPeople do everything they can do to eliminate the fishy flavor of fish. So why eat fish, eat chicken. I loke a fish that tastes fishy. Sea fish especially. But every fish has its own flavor and I love em all.
ОтветитьSo show how to fillet carp. Thank you.
ОтветитьIn the English language, it's not pronounced "filay", it's pronounced "fill it". Ask any British fisherman.
ОтветитьToo much work, too much waste. Learn to eat fish and you will have no bone "problems". Good video though..
ОтветитьI want a electric bubba
ОтветитьWhat size pike are these? Tried with some smaller ones, did not go well 😅
ОтветитьOption 2 for No Slime - Keep it alive until you're ready in fresh water (empty/fill livewell if it's been a bit) give him a bonk and get right to cleaning and don't keep the skin on lol. They really get slippery when stressed/dead. Northern Canadian at work ;) this was great thank-you. I'm going to pay attention to the pink skin meat.
ОтветитьNo the best eating Fish is in Canada we spell it in french doré it so good and Yeah it in fresh water
ОтветитьThey have firm flesh if the water is cold ,if the water is warm the flesh is mushy.
ОтветитьThat yellow on the table after the first fillet looks like you punctured the gull bladder of the fish.
ОтветитьJust kept my first pike in Wisconsin, I’m from Florida, just finished the video with my wife, looks easy enough.
ОтветитьWe usually bring our fish home pretty quickly, after we get done fishing and clean them...... that avoids the slime. We have never had a slime problem. I like them filleted, but I like the Y- bones in. You can cut through the top part of the fish and all the Y-bones poke out at the same angle all in a row.......you pull them all out, In two or three bunches, and then you have all of the meat left, All in one piece. Much simpler. 😊 Thank you so much for your a video. My husband always cleaned the northerns. He died seven years ago and I never did find out how to clean them. Thank you for showing me the parts that I needed to know.
ОтветитьThank you. I love pike. Very tasty.
ОтветитьThis video helped give me the confidence to fillet up some Pike. Each time I keep getting better. Thanks for teaching me!
ОтветитьYou throw away more than half of the fish. This is a crime against nature.
Ответить
