So, because we didn't use a Will only a trust, I believe I should only click trust and then irrevocable, right? If we went thru probate, then it would be "estate" for us. Do you know what the sub question about section 645 or something being taxed as part of an estate means?

Was that video for estate or irrevocable trust? You clicked on estate not trust and then filled out information for trust. I need to get EIN for irrevocable trust.

This video is a fine example of someone who decides to teach something they don't have a clear understanding of. An estate and and a trust are two very different things. And this person switched gears midstream without any explanation. Please, don't create a video because you filed for ONE tax id number and mislead a throng of people. It's irresponsible, however well intentioned.

This video is confusing. He starts out doing it as an estate and ends up doing it as a trust. Two different things. Did he do it twice? Maybe he got two Tax ID numbers. Totally useless video.

ANYBODY Please help...My mom passed away leaving me as the successor trustee on her revocable living trust that has now become an irrevocable trust..The only asset she had was her house in the living trust. Bank told me to apply for EIN so we may open a checking account in my mom's name as a trust to manage the selling of house etc.

Seems all screwed up, like you started it one way but changed it half way through.Some of the screens are estate related that you don't see if you are doing a trust. I didn't see a screen about who is being named the Responsible Party and that is an important screen to discuss. What happened?

Good info. Although the trust question and info doesn't show up when you use the estate option, only the info for the deceased etc.. At least when I did it. Had to use the trust button first, since in my case was having to assign a new number to a revocable trust that became irrevocable due to the death of the grantors.
