The movie is much more stupid that it has to be.
"Elements not in the periodic table" are not possible. Every time I hear such phrases in a movie, I cringe.
The destroyers in a ridiculously close formation. Do they want all to be taken out by e.g. a single nuke? (In actual operations, destroyers are miles from each other.)
Searching for an object in the ocean using ships while they have a carrier (carriers have patrol aircraft as SOP).
Etc...

Movie does good job honoring history using the USS Missouri Battleship.
The 2 crews work together being Americans & Japanese onboard the Missouri. The ship Japan officials came aboard and signed the surrender that ended WW2.

Although they didn’t sign treaty with Soviet Union until 1952 & officially signed end of war in 1956, so technically you could say that’s when WW2 officially ended. )

This Movie reminds me of The Mummy, One thinks it is a Horror movie thing like that and in fact, it is a fantastic Categorie of its own.
