Apologies for uploading the wrong video initially. Enjoy!
ОтветитьAs much as I'd like to choose the Sigma 50mm, it just doesn't match the same color science the canon lenses have, the canon L lenses have much better color contrast reproduction. The Sigma colors remind me of my ef 50mm stm lens, just sharper :/
ОтветитьI bought the Sigma 50 mm f1.4 art as I was so pleased with my Sigma 35 mm f1.4. I use it on my R6 with an adaptor and it works fine !
ОтветитьHave you, or can you do, a video with these lenses on the r body with the Fotodiox Pro Automatic Macro Extension Tubes?
ОтветитьEf 50mm f.2 is one of the my favorite lenses. Its sharpness in the middle is quite good in this comparioson. I'm slightly surprised. The difference in image quality between the central and peripheral areas becomes the individuality of the lens.
ОтветитьI guess i’m keeping my Sigma ART lens. I love and hated that lens at the same time because of inconsistent focus on DSLR but isn’t a problem in mirrorless. But when it did hit the focus right, it was sharp and beautiful. Just not consistent even after sending it in for calibration.
ОтветитьI have the 5D mark IV, if you have the possibility to choose one EF Lens for the same price, used. Would be Sigma or Canon ?
ОтветитьNo matter how many reviews I see, your reviews ALWAYS provide the information I was looking for.. Thank you Christopher.
Ответитьsigma 50 1.4 can do 97% of the work I usually do.
ОтветитьI mean....Canon never updated the ef f1.2 for years, so seeing and old developed lens from many years ago is expected to be poor :/
ОтветитьWhen using EF version I never complained about sharpness. I like colors, bokeh and its ability of renedering.
ОтветитьIdk about everyone else but i like vignetting.
ОтветитьOn R7 ?
ОтветитьI’m so confused why the Sigma scores higher for sharpness than the new RF when the Canon lens appears so technically superior. I don’t know if it’s worth the money for everyone but at this junction I find myself craving just a bit more sharpness in certain of my work than my third-party 1.4 lenses can offer.
Ответитьwow...that Sigma is no joke...for the price you're getting a lot.
ОтветитьI heard about the 50 RF front element will moving in & out because of the autofocus. Is it true and is it annoying for video shoot?
ОтветитьThe sigma can be found for around $600, if you are okay with adapting that is the clear winner.
ОтветитьI just thought that a comparison between the RF 50mm f1.2 and the Sigma Art would be nice and then, 5 seconds later i got this video recommended.
Great!
By far the best source for lens reviews. Appreciate your work mate.
ОтветитьChristopher sigma 500mm f4 sport review please.
Ответитьvery interesting ! Well done !
Ответитьjust go for the sigma 40mm 1.4 !!
ОтветитьHow is the autofocus speed of the Sigma compared to the RF?
ОтветитьThis is such a perfect video, Christopher! You were perfectly systematic, and demonstrated very clearly the differences. I could not have asked for a more succinct and specific presentation! Great photo examples and superb efficiency in what is best, good, and fair about each. Your including the cost benefit analysis is also perfectly "fair," and reminds photographers that the question of worth really comes down to our own subjectivity of value. Thank-you :)!! Awesome!
ОтветитьAmazing comparison reviews as always
Ответитьalready liked the video because of the topic
ОтветитьOne thing that you’ve missed to mention here is that the EF50L delivers the most life-like image, with great perception of depth and great micro-contrast due to its low element count, while the other two are truly modern, highly corrected, very flat lenses, especially the Sigma. And yes, the EF50 also has great soul, it is one of the lenses that you will always buy again after you sell it. And yes, lenses like the EF50L will show technical flaws wide open. :) Not everything in photography is sharpness, mate... Cheers.
ОтветитьJust what I was looking for! Thank you so much!! 😊💕
ОтветитьThe sigma doesn't capture color that great but it's a great lense
ОтветитьI love my Sigma 50mm on my R6!! It’s a keeper for sure!!
Ответитьdo you say 'tchau' in the end? that's what we say in brazilian portuguese, but it seems to have come from italian ('ciao;' i think that's how it's written). the real (but currently unspoken in brazil) portuguese equivalence is 'adeus' (the connection of 'a deus,' meaning 'to god' or 'in god's' [hands]). it was cool to hear you say that. is it normally spoken where you live or did you say it because you like it?
ОтветитьHey mate thanks for the review! Can you link to where the ef 50mm f/1.2l is being sold for £600? I can only find it for £1500 everywhere! Thanks
Ответитьsigma 50 art eye af with canon r5 or r6 is bit weak with full length shot for models . close up shot is fine .
ОтветитьGreat video Chris. One question, I have always heard that Sigma in 1.4 is much sharper than the EF 50 1.2 in 1.4. However, in your test we can see that the difference is minimal, if any, in the center of the frame. Is that what you got?
ОтветитьI don't think that the price of the adapter should be a factor when comparing lenses, since it's pretty much a must have nowadays, otherwise you'll be paying thousands of dollars in a limited natove lens selection, and it's not like you have to buy 1 for each EF or EF-S lens that you have.
ОтветитьGreat comparison. I bought the older ef 50mm 1.2 for my R6. It’s small, cheaper , lighter. As the video shows it has colour fringing but that’s easy to remove in post-p. ...I Also own the brand new rf24-70. ...I do wonder if the new RF lenses will loose the magical characteristics that make images look real. My zoom mentioned is very clinical. Good for my commercial work. The older 50 will be for my creative shots wide open. Best to all. Keep snapping 😃
ОтветитьSigma Art 105 1.4 is probably sharper than the Sigma Art 50, it's comparable to the IQ of the RF 82 1.2.
ОтветитьChristopher please re test the Yongnuo 50mm 1.4 using your new Canon R5. Thanks
ОтветитьGood review, I wish you could've also included the Tokina 50 1.4.
ОтветитьWow that Sigma 50mm is a force to be reckoned with.
ОтветитьWatching this video without having any eos R just to see how the 1/3 price sigma performs and again very great review! You are the best reviewer out here!
ОтветитьYes, your review is really helpfull.
I enjoy every time your glass clear perfect english. It‘s a reference and easy understandable for non native speaker like me. You got my subscription!
I don't understand the super old EF 50mm F1.2 being that expensive. Canon should be ashamed of it's price/performance ratio compare to all of their competitors. Nobody with an ounce of brain would buy it even at a discounted price or at the same price of a Sigma.
However cmon Sigma, make a new version for RF body, as I'm sick of those huge and bulky lens + adapter. I didn't buy a R6 to use a big old lens.
Very nice comparison and concise as usual. I would have just added that the sigma isn’t weather sealed. Thanks and keep going!
ОтветитьFor the money, Sigma ART EF lenses offer incredible value. Can buy 2 or perhaps even 3 for the cost of a single RF lens.
ОтветитьGood review ,thanks help me a lot choose this 3 lens for work ,great job
ОтветитьI'm waiting for the first week of 2021 to place my order for the RF 50 1.2... I've exceeded my expenses for 2020.
ОтветитьThis is how videos must be, enough with narcissistic and 3 minutes intro/promo channels. I'm coming here before any lens purchase. Well done mate as always!!!
Ответитьwould love to see a similar video with the 85mm lineup but with a section on auto focus :) brilliant as always thanks
