Loved this vid, really strikes a chord with me and a lot of other people I'm sure. Our youth and perfection obsessed culture can be a real bummer for those of us that are 40+. It's kind of weird and I imagine I'm not alone, but I don't feel my age in my head whatsoever (I'm 49 btw) While I would LOVE to have my 27 year old body back, I would NEVER want to go back to my 20's (or even 30's) brain that's for damn sure! And I agree with you Shelly about all those stupid, silly "rules" about all the shit your not supposed to do after a certain age.......bullshit lol do what makes you feel good and to hell with the "rules". I absolutely don't try to follow younger trends to try to be cool or seem young, I just do my thing because you only have one life so why limit yourself?!? And I've mentioned this before......I do my make up 110% better than I ever did when I was young and dumb lol and when I say dumb I am referring to myself only ;o)

I love this tag, and I can really relate to it. My mother once said when I asked her if she felt older, just when I look in the mirror...so true, the years fly by faster and faster as you go through the aging process...there are so many changes with each plateau you reach. Just enjoy your life and try to keep healthy. Don't become obsessed with each line and wrinkle, they are apart of life, beautiful makeup products really help. Shelly, you are a delight!

Word to going down stairs, hurting for no reason, reading glasses, and so much more. Just a suggestion - try stretching/massage on the thigh muscles above the bad knee. From my experience, hurting going down stairs instead of up can mean those muscles are tight and pulling your knee.

Good afternoon sweetie. I enjoyed doing this tag video ...Sarah did an awesome job wit this tag video. Age restrictions ...girl don’t get me going on this topic. Heck yes this would get me some saggy skin and Botox if this girl could afford it. My teens are in college at this time ...yes about age spots. Yes feeling comfortable in your own skin 🙌🏼. Stay fabulous and enjoy your evening.

I loved this video/tag! I really don't have any issues with aging at all tbh. I guess I wish I didn't have the start of those stubborn number 11 wrinkles but I'm still fairly wrinkle free/pain free knock wood for almost 50. God that seems old when I type it out but I still feel 20's hahaha!
In all seriousness, I wouldn't go back to my 20's - 30's, I'm so much more confident and comfortable with myself now then I was then. Oh! grey hairs, I almost forgot - I don't like them lol

This is the first time I’ve seen this tag. A few of my answers:
50+ age group (51 yrs old) aches and pains are definitely the worst part of aging; if I had the $ I would definitely do lasers and Botox and maybe a filler or two; I started thinking about skincare/anti-aging a few months before I turned 50, when I realized “holy crap I’m about to be 50!”; I’m lucky that my genetics don’t show my true age and I’d like to keep it that way, although I’m noticing lines today that weren’t there even 3 months ago. But with age comes the ability to NOT sweat the small stuff. I’ve learned how to pick my battles and that is extremely liberating.

I'm sorry to inform you but botox won't hold your eyelids up like that. At least it didn't work for me, but maybe something new will be invented soon. We can hope. Maybe it was the doctor...The sunspots you can get rid of. Just go to a derm Dr. Not expensive.

Now if that video wasn’t rather uncomfortable! My oldest was born in 1970. I’m onto the next level of the eyes going - cataracts. Aging is easier to take with good health, you got that right. I always thought you were supposed to use less makeup as one ages. I like your solution to wear more! Ha ha ha. Oh, ouch, my side is aching with laughter. Now if I can remember where those darn glasses are. . . .

Good evening Shelly. This is one of my favorite videos from you so far! I laughed so much because I relate as I'm sure a lot of your viewers will. I don't feel 45 and often wonder if this is how my mom felt at my age. Also, I know I might not be in the norm but a person's thumbnail isn't what draws me in. It's always the title of the video. If it sounds interesting I'll watch it. That might go along with how you feel about buying gimmicky beauty items. It doesn't really matter how it looks, it matters whats on the inside. Hope you have a great weekend and I can't wait to hear about your tattoos!

The eyesight is what bothers me the most too! I have multi-focal contact lenses but in low light situations, my near vision is still crap. Meh, I'll get botox, fillers, laser & any other work done if I want it. I don't know why so many people feel that they need to tell us what we can & can't wear as we get older.

@Geek Out of Water can you please do a video on what you have done to treat you sun spots and what over the counter product worked?
MATURE BEAUTY COMMUNITY TAG QUESTIONS:
1) What is your age group? (over 40, 50,60 etc.)
I am 40

2) What bothers you most about aging?
I truly am comfortable with the whole aging thing. I don't get why everyone panics when they hit certain age.

3) Have you had any procedures done? (plastic surgery etc.)
I have not had any procedures for cosmetic reasons.

4) If not, would you?
After seeing how plastic surgeries ages no. seeing people /friend that has surgeries look good for short time & than they looked older. I have only had thing done due to medical issue (plus I am allergic to anesthesia) is breast reduction. I did not do it to look better, I did it to be healthy again.

5) What was a pivotal point where you realized you wanted to tackle anti-aging?
late 30's but did not know where to start. Everyone talks about makeup and how great a product is. Very few talk about anti aging products, unless they are getting paid.

6) Do you think it's possible to anti-age?
NO. It is a natural process and you will age.

7) Of all the lotions and potions for anti-aging out there, which ones do you think are a gimmick?
jade rollers. Anything that claims to change too much overnight.

8) Which ones work?
Beauty oils

9) If you could change just ONE thing about YOUR aging process what would it be?
That I could sleep well.

10) What ONE thing are you most pleased with about your physical appearance at this point in your life?
Honestly, I feel I look better and feel better now than I did in my 20's

11) Do you accept that you're getting older?
Heck yes and welcome it..

12) When it's all said and done with, is aging about the external or internal?
I think a bit of both. Hopefully you do not go I think I only am going to improve my outer appearance and never work on myself internally
.
13) If you had to choose: growing older more rapidly with your physical appearance but yet having vibrant health or vice versa outwardly aging slower but yet declined health which would you choose?
vibrant health for sure!! It is how you remain young. Keep healthy physically and that is a HUGE part of how we don't age as much.

I’m 48 and wear what I want, I think that’s a positive of getting older you know what suits you, I certainly don’t do the “ beige “ that were expected to wear. What I have noticed is a lot of much younger colleagues at work copy my clothes, hairstyles ask my opinion on skincare, makeup and how to apply it that’s got to be a compliment hasn’t it.
The down side is definitely stiffness and painful joints I’m not even sure when that happened it was so insidious urghh, xx

I'm 45 years old . I've had skin cancer on my nose removed and a skin graft. I was left with scaring and the skin graft had hair follicles from eyebrows so now that hair still grows on my nose (it's crazy) but I use a Norelco electric razor over my entire face every other day to get rid of the peach fuzz. I watched this video late last evening. I was 64 when I started watching it a couple minutes before midnight and 65 when it ended.
No one can stop the clock, but we can slow it down a bit by watching what we put in and on our bodies and being kind to ourselves about what we can't control. ( I'll be the first to admit I control quite a lot with lotions, potions, and a good dermatologist.)

I've had a low self esteem and poor health my entire life so I really don't know what to choose between. I also completely get the college experience. Not because I teach, but because I went back in my mid 30's. What made me feel the absolute oldest was first semester being told parents go over there all day and this semester when I wore my chunky shoes and was asked where I got such "cool, retro" clothes lol.

It was a wake up call to me realizing how much money I spent on makeup, skincare, etc trying to "fix" the things on my face from again I didn't like that i could've been spending on small cosmetic procedures to truly make a difference. Botox is the best thing I could ever advocate as it made such a huge difference in how I feel about myself. Years of wearing glasses before contacts made these awful deep crinkles n my forehead and Botox alleviates the vast majority. I've had restalyne which has now disappeared mostly and will be doing it again when I redo the Botox. Eyelash extensions are second only to Botox tho an eye infection not from it has be off that for the past eight months. I still spend on high end makeup and skincare but I am realistic now about what I will get out of it. I've had breast augmentation and chin lipo, arm lipo too which were also some of the best things I did for myself. I'm proof it's not vanity driven unrealistic women who have these procedures as im a SHM w/ a spouse who is total care I know what makes me happier about my appearance and make no apologies for what I do for msyelf in terms of cosmetic procedure or spending on skincare/cosmetics It's wonderful to have these open conversations about women and how we age as it is a difficult thing for many of us to go through and we should all be more supportive of any decision we make regarding our own bodies. I have been so thrilled to have discovered this channel as your videos are so fun and informative all coupled with a lovely personality. Many blessings and continued success!

Loved this video.

I haaate gatekeeping -- whether it's because of age or gender or whatever. As an example, I'm a gamer -- video and tabletop and I'm 42. I have had SO MANY PEOPLE (uh, let's be real -- males) tell me I am too old for video games. Like you hit a certain age and automatically stop loving all the things you love and start liking "old people" stuff??? Um, that's not how it works, bro.

I haven't had that happen with tabletop gamers though. shrug

Wow, agree with all you said on this! I damaged my knee, several times over the years, wore an ace bandage and healed it by heat, mild exercise, and massage. ( I hate going to the doc). Took about 12 weeks...but, the latest knee thing? I have a 40 year old daughter and told her I love swimming, but haven’t been able to do because of weather and hate the treadmill. She said just do the plank, 30 seconds a day is all I need. So, .... I did it, 15 seconds was tough. Then I tried 30 seconds, pushing it, and guess what? I stripped my left knee muscle! It swelled up and I didn’t know it was the plank because it took 3 days to show up. Now just healing after about 8 weeks. So, I told her I “walked the plank” and fell off...haha..after it heals completely, I will try again in smaller increments. BTW, I’m 63, had menopause and take a ton of vitamins. I only have reading glasses, using a neck strap, hate it. I had a nice “50’s bloom” where I thought I had a second round of good looks, now I am battling the wrinkles, so far no lifts, burns, injections needed, haha. Aging with gratefulness is the key, always counting my blessings. And finding your joyful, intelligent channel is one! Have a great Week!
