Cloud Computing is the biggest IT technology shift of the 21st century, with hundreds of billions spent by businesses on their cloud transformations each year. Almost invisible to the public, the way that private data is processed and transferred around the globe is changing extremely rapidly. It is safe to say that in the near future most, if not all, data will be in the custody of only a handful of companies. In this talk I want to show you what is actually behind the fluffy term Cloud Computing and explain to you what it really means for us in the grand scheme of things. Matthias is the CEO and co-founder of the globally acting Cloud Transformation software company Txture. Before founding Txture, he researched how large organizations can optimize the transformation of their global IT landscapes and received his PhD in Computer Science in 2014. In this capacity he participated in research and development projects in Canada, Germany, the USA, Austria and China. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Really going from punch cards to cloud computing?
Skipping floppy disks 5,25 inch and later 1,44 MB 3,5 HD DD disks. And that was still home computing. Then the HD came into existance. Then portable ZIP disks. Burnable CD ROMS. Later even DVD and BluRay. All able to make copies. Even rewritable ones. Not to mention FLASH data on USB sticks, even with their limited R/W cycles.
You claim cloud services are the way to go. But they are far more likely to be attacked by hackers than my own good old RAID type1 servers.
Cloud computing is the worst kind of data protection the world has seen. There's no control and when the servers are taken down, you lose it all.
I don't understand why a person with a fair bit of knowledge would promote cloud data storage in a cloud over local storage.
