Not gonna lie. I was hating. When my daughter begged me to finally go watch with her I felt like a terrible human. Halle Bailey is beyond good. My god she’s amazing. That girl can sing.

my toxic trait is thinking I could do this in one vocal take, lmao! TLM is my favorite Disney Princess tale! Halle more than filled the role. She was inquisitive and innocent enough to fit in the human world while still understanding and disobeying the sea world. I loved this interpretation. My absolute SIN was the omittance of "BoDy lAnGuaGe...HA!" during Poor Unfortunate Souls.

There will always be those who hate the casting choice simply because she isn't a white redhead but let's face it... She completely owned her performance as Ariel and as far as I'm concerned, we should just remake the character as a beautiful proud African American as we need more of them in Disney lore anyways. Now is a 45 year old white man can say that, surely the rest of the world can get onboard and support Halle's amazing performance in this movie.

I really like that they chose Halle to be Ariel because sirens have beautiful voice like her and they don’t have to use autotune. Unlike Belle in Beauty and the Beast, they had to use tons of autotune to match the notes of the original.

I recently saw Dancing to Disney, and one of the 2 female dancers danced to Hailee’s version of “Part of Your World”, I had tears in my eyes, because Hailee’s version, combined with the dancer’s performance was so beautiful, emotional, and powerful. I heard Hailee’s sound of hope, dreams and desire in her vocals. The higher notes to me sound like “I want this for myself so bad!”. I didn’t cry like this at the show 😭, but more like this 😢. I will forever love and call Miss Jodi as my original Ariel/musical theatre idol, but Hailee took Part of Your World to church! Hailee and Melissa both need & deserve to be on the Broadway stage, because they’re amazing triple threats in the movie.

Im a pop singer/songwriter myself and i loved how Halle made it both pop and disney! She said she made the casting directors cry after she opened her eyes!
