I recently found Melanie again, I used to be obsessed with this song specifically when I was a really little kid and I had forgotten about it but when I heard this song again I suddenly remembered it. Honestly wasn't expecting to hear she died when I looked at the comments so R.I.P Melanie, thanks for the memories.

Brand new key reminds me of my first teenage romance while on holiday at Cullercoats ,Whitley Bay.She was bright little bird called Diane Wilcox,I was 14 she was 13, the other boys in my group were very jealous! Melanie was her fave at the time . Bless them both!

I absolutely adored this song as a 9 year old boy growing up in Australia! My then best mate Stephen from little athletics & used to sing this all the time when we competed. Unfortunately Stephen drowned in a boating accident less than a year later. As sad as it was, well still is, Melanie gave me beautiful memories of my best mate. RIP Melanie. 💔😢🤗
