In 2022 when Russian media were showing (fake) footage of Western Europeans freezing to death and running out of fuel in their cars....I installed a Jacuzzi on our deck in the back garden, bought a new car and drove my wife to Paris for our 20th wedding anniversary to have lunch......Everyone i came across was happy to be out of lockdowns, getting back to business as usual, and optimistic. Yet in Russia it seems people thought being lucky enough to have working electricity and a bag of potatoes was luxury.

I understand Russian politics very well. It's not so hard to visualize how many roads could be repaired and paved with the 6.9 billion they spend daily on war. In a village of approx 25 roads/streets, they would clearly complete 1/10th of the village. Ask any local politician or paving company for an estimate smfh...
