Were the first 3 minutes of this video an illustration of why it’s important to get to the point? LOL! Seriously, it took you three minutes to start. I don’t mean to criticize because I am the same and worse

I got to add something too for the impulsive people. ask yourself is this the most important thing you want to say for when you're thinking about what to say. by the way great video all three points are valuable. CNN about

I've always been very resistant to succinctness. I feel like people use silence to be manipulative and I don't know how to draw the line below the amount that I feel I need to talk to get my point across without feeling like a creep. it's hard cuz if I want to say stuff and I don't I feel like I'm withholding.

Love this video! its rare to find good tips and framework on such simple but important ideas.

I want to work on my conversational, speaking communication. here are few challenges I am facing in my daily conversation.

- I am talkative, tend to be all over the place and lost in my own mind and sometime even forget the main point.
- I also observe that i tend to do the monolog instead of having two ways conversation.
- I also felt, while meeting new people i tend to be too self conscious, care too much what i said, how i said it, i am taking too much, i shouldn't have touch this topic etc.. instead of entirely focus on the other person.

Given all these challenges, i am bit confuse what is the best route for me to work on these challenges, and what type of training or help i should get or what book, because most of the training came across they are about presentation and public speaking, like giving speech etc... but conversation based communication and how and when to talk, how to be precise, what to say and what not to say in first meetings in personal or professional interactions i am looking these type of knowledge that give me a mindset and speaking skills.

If you can help me guide towards something that could help me it would be great!

I interview people (not for job interviews). Sometimes, I tell people that I need short and concise responses. Is there a better way to tell verbose people to get to the point?

Funny your video on being succinct was the shortest and axiomatically true! Others were at least 2 or 8x longer.

People already know they need to get to the point, that's why they clicked your video: So the introduction was not needed; you didn't get to the point.

This is especially important in job interviews - yammer on and lose the interviewer’s attention at your peril

I have the opposite problem. I am usually too concise and don't give details unless I am specifically asked for them.

Thank you, this was really helpful, I struggle so much with this. Do you have examples of when it is best to use one vs. another of these frameworks? Do some situations lend themselves better to a framework and then others to another? Thanks again!

Good points made there. Problem is in the corporate world speaking direct comes across as rude and unprofessional. Which is why I struggle in the work environment. Nothing worse than trying to speak soft language when it doesn't come naturally... Feels two faced
