Just got my elgoo 2650 kit, no book but has a CD. Can't get my computer to recognize the ardino when plugged into USB on computer. I have windows 10 anyone out there know how to fix?

this is all new to me. I wanted to make a shooting star on my ceiling using led's for a light source and fiberoptic mounted in my ceiling. Yes you can buy kits made for this but I thought it might be fun to make. I know there are other products such as Raspberry. Am I trying to do something beyond its limits. If this will work my intention was to have several work independent.

I jumped into the Arduino world blind and bought the starter kit that came with the most stuff(elegoo) and in about 3 weeks I've had some success. I realized the pre written projects for elegoo were too baseline, they tell you what to connect where, and what pre written code to upload to it but that's no fun so I decided to strike out on my own and make a push button counter with the 4 digit display and shift register however finding information about exactly how each component functions was impossible with elegoos resources and it took me forever to figure out the shift register. If you want the best guided assembly go with the Arduino kit, if you want to figure it out on your own the elegoo is better. Really like that Arduino book the information would have been great to have.

LMAO, I've had the Elegoo kit for years, never opened the shield bag, and didn't realise the solderless breadboard was removable! Now I have an extra breadboard!

As an adult in retirement I have decided that I would like to dive into the world of electronics and as such I have been searching for an educational start-up kit. It appears from the research I have done so far that everything seems to be centered around Arduinos, but I am simply interested in learning about the basics of electronics and not so interested in the computer programming elements (I know - I'm a dinosaur 😎).

Do you know if any such kit exists or am I stuck with the options of either Arduino or build my own starter pack?

The elegoo is cooler, i am getting that but its called THE MOST COMPLETE STARTER KIT its £60 and it has over 200 parts! I am getting it for christmas, which is only tomorrow then its christmas! Hope everyone has a merry christmas and a happy new year!

As for your question whether this is the perfect gift for kids, ahhh, depends on the kid. I guess some will chew on it to see what it tastes like, and some will wanna see what they can do with it. I suppose you were the latter kind. This kind would be on it 24/7. Then again, so would the chewing kind. 😂

with the power module they recomend to not power it with anything over 9V. probably might fry the module or something. but either way if anyone owning the module sees this, dont power it with 12V
