Random one.. can you adjust volume pre fader - before the effects / plug ins? Coming from cubase but worked in ableton for a couple of years and it’s one thing that never had 😂 so I was smashing into my mixing plug ins on the bus

I had heard BitWig are some Devs and creators from Ableton that went to start their own DAW. By looking at your video and using their trial right now, yeah I have to admit that there's a lot of similarities between both but for BitWig, there's so many clicks and menus to get to what you want, it's crazy. For you that was a Cubase user, so many menu diving is standard but, is it what you disliked about Live, that everything was right in front of you?

After using Bitwig for a bit, you really miss that split screen between clips and the arrangement view when you go back to Ableton, which seems unnecessarily clunky by comparison. Also, that universal modulation thing is gold.

Bitwig is trash. I call it Ableton Live copycat. Even names of some plugins were copied from ableton. The rack, macros, everything is somehow copied in Ableton Live. The UI is disgusting. Can't even lock the automations, when I'm chopping audios it follows the automations and it's all over the place. Stock plugins look like they were made for kids. The browser is a mess. Clip launches don't look as intuitive as Ableton Live. Just looks like a failed copy of Ableton Live. No originality I'd say.

I love it when you can easily add missing chains with electrons overbridge plugin. I still have to add the audio tracks manually though in the timeline so that I can record separate outs, But I guess it doesn't matter that much as I save the syntakt/digitone and digitakt setup as a template.

Great stuff as usual Mr VT. In watching this again after some time away, I wanted to give a go for a suggestion (ask?) out of multi daw curiosity (making sense of liking things of many/most daws myself yet struggling for years as a humble hobbyist that I'm supposed to like and use only ONE). Would it be possible to make a video, or at least a comment here, of which daws you use for certain reasons, etc? I realize this is a personal thing to some extent and workflows that are hit/miss for each individual. Basically, I'd just love to know what and why. Cheers!

I’ve been doing a lot of research to find my first “real” daw. I narrowed it down to cubase and bitwig up until this video. I’m looking for a great daw for sound design and this looks perfect for me. I’m worried about cost and updates. I think I’ll start with the lower cost version and if I like it I’ll use some tax return money to upgrade it if that’s possible. Thanks for all the wonderful content, buckarooni

How is Bitwig Studio on CPU? And how is it at recording vocals? I see a lot modulation videos & sound designing features! Which is cool, But is it a replacement
for Ableton Live & Logic Pro? I am learning Reason Studios because it is supposedly good with CPU consumption but is the time to learn it is needed!
I will try Bitwig myself as I have it already but good hear others feedback on their experience with Bitwig Studios!

I have Ableton Live 11 but having trouble with it’s configuration it keeps overloading on CPU and crashing!
I also own Bitwig Studio but haven’t explored it yet! A bit lost at the moment similar to Ableton but I haven’t clicked with it yet!
Guessing it will have the same issues as Live has with CPU over consumption and crashing! I also have Logic Pro and was transitioning to using that as it is a Apple Mac Brand should be better with CPU only I don’t like the workflow & layout of Logic Pro I have owned it for the longest but was put off with it’s workflow
Fell in love with Ableton Live when it finally clicked after sitting on the intro version that came with a purchase! When I first got it I was lost so I went back to Logic Pro and still wasn’t happy so year later decided to try Ableton again and that’s when it clicked and was hooked!
I have been having issues with the CPU So still looking for a replacement DAW!

Hi Cameron, thanks for this useful video, because I'm Bitwig Studio newbee, on Windows 10. I assume it's an excellent DAW, in particular for my usage, for live performances and sound design sessions. My previous DAW was REAPER. The only "regret" I consider is you can't customize your homemade Grid devices as you want (M4L is more friendly for this).
