Buy a new car
ОтветитьWe have a cargo box that fits my 2011 Jeep patriot, and it doesn't make noise when traveling.
ОтветитьI just bought a used Vintage 1980’s Sears X-Cargo Rooftop Carrier (13-15 cu-ft) for $40 and used Toyota Manufactured cross bars for $50, all from Facebook market place, cost me about $90 and some gas
ОтветитьGreat info but where do all your antennas now go. Lol👍🤠
ОтветитьI've used a Thule cargo pod on my Prius for 4 years, but have run into a problem: I just upgraded to a Rav4. I installed a set of cross bars, clamped the Thule to them, and discovered that the Rav4 is just enough taller than the Prius, that the Thule hit the top of the garage door opening when I tried to pull out of my garage. The top of the Thule is about 2" higher than the top of the garage door, so I am probably going to have to switch to a cargo basket. I'm bummed about this, because I've liked the Thule cargo pod - it's never leaked rainwater, and it induces less drag at freeway speed than bagged cargo in a basket.
ОтветитьHi there. Thank you for the video. You are inspiring…we may eventually be able to downsize to a smaller vehicle someday. Anyway, my question is actually on your utility trailer. I can’t seem to find one quite like it. Do you have brand/model…link? Thanks regardless!!
ОтветитьWhich carrier brings them to you? They are big and shipping cost is so high in US
ОтветитьDetailed report. Good shit good sir. Thank you.
ОтветитьVery good.
You do not mention height? I am worried what height limitations in parking garages etc would bring. Been looking at boxes below 40cm height, or lower mounted bars, to keep total height below 2 meters. But found nothing yet.
Ps. I am curious about roof baskets as alternative. Would love to see you test and compare with a roof baskets.
Man you’re a pro 😊
ОтветитьGreat video! I like how you included lots of data and photographs various situations. Was very helpful. Thank you
ОтветитьJeez. What a long introduction.
ОтветитьYou are a really meticulous person, you are perfect for comparison videos! I just bought a VW Touran as we now have 4 kids, looking for cargo options :) Have a nice day :D
Ответитьrespect for a fellow small car man, all i’ve ever owned were coupes, a friend offered me his old cargo box and it’s gonna be very nice to have more space than just the backseat lol
ОтветитьEver consider a roof basket? Ben Vallack has neat video here on yt about advantages over a roof box. As for the comparison with a hitch carrier, my small skoda kamiq has roof rails but unfortunately doesn't have a factory installed tow hitch, so it depends on the car as well.
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьLove the kids out there who put them on top of their honda civic, thinking it looks cool.
ОтветитьHi. One additional challenge worth mentioning is that longer rooftop cargo carriers may interfere with hatch liftgates and put paint at risk. I found this video while looking for ideas to securely shift the position of rooftop carriers more forward. Thinking some sort of inexpensive rigid structural material could be used on the inner bottom of the cargo pod to limit sagging ahead of the front roof rail. Any thoughts? Thx.
ОтветитьHi! What’s that song in the background? Thanks!
ОтветитьGood info, thanks 👍🏻👍🏾
ОтветитьBored shitless knocked off at 3 mins
Ответитьthe rino racks are universal? or just for VW
ОтветитьGood video. Useful. Convinced me not to get a roof cargo on the Taos.
ОтветитьCan u store fishing poles and other fishing supplies in there
ОтветитьFound your videos through a random search. Excellently done. Thanks for the content!
ОтветитьGreat video, well made intelligent! Helpful thank you.
ОтветитьNice, thorough overview. I'm about to install a rooftop cargo box and and hitch bike rack for the 3000mi roundtrip holiday pilgrimage to visit family.
ОтветитьWould you try an estate car? Could still use roof box too
ОтветитьI have Thule Force XT Sport and my Enduro MTB right beside. So the roof rack I have is special size for fitting your bike. I had 3.8-3.9 liter per 100km and after my roof rack and bike it became 4.1-4.2 I mean its not end of the world
ОтветитьWhere did you get that trailer? Looks dope. Did you customized it?
ОтветитьRoof Racks are an awesome innovation!
ОтветитьI appreciate your level of detail!
Greetings from India 🇮🇳
Golf sucks
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьI could tell right from the outset that you were a detail-orientrd person. And sure enough, you made a super great, super well-analyzed video. Thanks for putting this together!
I learned some things for sure.
I like how to-the-point your videos are. I wish I had your ability to “trim the fat” from my speech.
ОтветитьCan a spear tier fit inside it?
ОтветитьMy mpg can’t be worse rn so fuck it lol 🤟🏾great video
ОтветитьI couldn’t even make it through the into dude is too creepy
ОтветитьHow much did it effect your gas mileage?
ОтветитьAnyone who plans their trips around their pets to ensure their comfort is a good person.. from an old, ancient Chinese proverb 😻
ОтветитьConvinced myself to purchase a roof rack and cargo box system for my little hatch recently. I used mine on a trip to the mountains, and the noise it makes on high winds was a bit uncomfortable. How fast can I drive when I have the system on my car?
ОтветитьNoisy
ОтветитьI’ve had slim line roof box since our first child came 15 years ago, our Astra was an equivalent in model matching to the VW Golf. It’s not about you can get in the box it’s about what you can priorities elsewhere in your loading. It’s for high volume low weight items I’d question the need that anybody has to put heavy items a roof box, take the box off and use the bars instead reality it suits bags with clothes, camping items and fold flat pushchairs chassis which are too wide to go in the trunk of hatchback car. I’ve switched to a Zafira and will look to by a Thule XT L because Snowboard won’t fit in my current one and the installation is more user friendly for single person install. I can tow trailers but it’s a distraction beyond local trips and rear mounted racks have shifted on my car in the past. If you need extra capacity the roof box has been the small car owners go to for over a decade now. Couple this with a Diesel car and I can drive for six to seven hours between refills, in 6th gears and no heavy traffic almost eight hours even with the unavoidable drag. It’s a shame GMC sold of the Plants in Europe making the fuel frugal cars that existed in the Saturn range state side.
ОтветитьGreat review video. One thing to add. If your car is equipped with factory roof rack, the installation of the cargo box is much easier and faster.
ОтветитьIs that 165 lb total weight... Or per square foot sort of thing... Your roof rack is going to distribute the weight 165 lb sounds very low for a whole roof with a roof rack distributing the weight...hmmm... I'm going to have to look into this before I waste my time on a roof carrier... Great video though...
ОтветитьNot sure how I came upon your video, but I did thoroughly enjoy it lol. The pics of all yhe different things you carried around etc was entertaining and I also found your commentary very relaxing and went very well with the video. Thanks
ОтветитьI find the point about obscuring you licence plate interesting. In the UK and I all the EU if you cover your licence plate you need to get a second plate and attach it to the trailer or bumper mounted bag. It is illegal to drive with your licence plate obscured. in fact you can get fined and points on your licence even if you licence plate is obscured by mud.
ОтветитьThat’s it seriously? Dislike
