Love solo game content!
ОтветитьFor Northwood is the game I bring. I do think you will enjoy it. I have no idea why I haven't purchased any button shy games. I know I need to
ОтветитьGreat list! For Northwood! Is so fun! Not sure if you ever do print and play games, but Galdor's Grip and The Cubes of Europe ate super fun. The first plays in your hand, and the second is a few cards and cubes. Both are addictive! ❤
ОтветитьI always travel with a 7 x 8 zippered pouch of games. In it I have Railroad Ink sheets, dice and marker; Food Chain Island; Rolling America pad and dice (one die rolled away in a plane trip once but nice person a few seats back retrieved it, so be forewarned), Trek sheets and dice, Dungeons, Dice and Danger sheets with pen and dice, and Dice cards game with dice and marker. I also bring a dice cup and use the lid for dice rolls. This pouch of games has saved me on many delayed travel times! Thanks for all the great videos!!
ОтветитьOne of my favourite button shy games solo is Wonder Tales! So much fun! The rumplestiltskin expansion gives you the solo mode
ОтветитьSolo games I've enjoyed on trips: Ancient Realm, Doom Machine, Palm Island, For Northwood!
That last one is on BGA. Just discovered it there recently and appreciated being able to play without all the shuffling! Ancient Realm and Palm Island can be played on the airplane.
The Lucky Seven and Regicide are both fun solo games that games that are both just a deck of cards.
Lucky seven does need a reasonable table space though to set up.
Palm Island and Dragons of Ethinstone for me. Both super fun.
ОтветитьMy son and I LOVE Numbsters. I bought it in English for me, he watched me a few times and asked to have it for Christmas. I bought a copy for his teacher and for my classroom.
ОтветитьFor travel, I like Button Shy and Roll and Write games. My favorites Button Shy fro travel is Numbsters. Mysticana which was recently released is also good for travel.
ОтветитьHey @fosterthemeeple ! My three favorite top travel games can literally be played anywhere! Im not sure if you two played these: Galdor’s Grip, Palm Island, Dragons of Etchinstone. I would love to hear your take on the games!
ОтветитьYou can get buttonshy games on an airplane tray table if you can get a first class or business class cabin with your own laydown bed and what not. Though I wouldn’t know about that. I just look at other people’s pictures. Longing. Crying.
ОтветитьLove the list and love your videos Jamie.
For northwood is easily one of my favourite solo games. I love trick taking and to have a solo trick taking game that works is amazing. It does take up a bit of space.
Button shy games are hard to get in Australia. I usually wait for them to be published by even toys and games. Unfortunately the card quality isn't as good and they come in an unnecessarily large box.
On the plus side, the expansions are included.
I am still waiting for numbsters and revolver noir to get a release down here.
Harmonies was not on my radar but now it is! thanks!
ОтветитьI always bring gentle rain and floriferous. Then daily commutes if I’m not in the mood for solo rpg i play koala rescue club. And just created three sisters so I can play it on my iPad on the bus.
ОтветитьHave you tried Rustling Leaves? It’s a great little roll and write that comes with 4 different sheets for the 4 seasons, each with a slightly different rule set so you’ve kind of got 4 games in 1. I always laminate my roll and writes so I can just bring 1 sheet and a dry erase and it leaves more room for more games.😂 I also always bring Uwe’s Second Chance. I’ve just started bringing Mind Space too - I love it!
ОтветитьBrilliant video as always! I'd definitely like to try the Next Station games in particular.
I don't tend to travel all that much (outside of the summer hols) and when I do, it's with family and friends so the games I take are best played multiplayer.
But I have enjoyed playing Railroad Ink solo, on the beach, at the campsite etc!
I bought Food Chain Island on your recommendation. I love that game…
ОтветитьI don't know if it's available in the US but Skoventyr is a great little game that is suitable for most travel situations… And the art is beautiful
ОтветитьI took MindSpace with me and played on my flight to Nuremberg earlier this year, it worked just fine (though I padded the box to make the dice roll less loud). Not only did I have a lovely time but someone else on the flight saw it and was curious enough to ask about it as we were leaving the plane. No surprises on this list, all bangers for solo + travel.
ОтветитьMy wife and I are going to be traveling in December for the first time, so this is exactly the kind of video I'm looking for!
Numbsters has been tempting me for a little while now, and I love movies to Apropos seems like something that could be right up my alley (although it looks like it's sold out, nooooo!)
A Gentle Rain is another one I've had my eye on, but I'm torn between the two versions (the one with plastic flowers or the wooden ones).
Thank you for the suggestions, and I'd love to hear what two player suggestions you have!
Palm Island and For Northwood. And I bought a new one at Essen that is probably going to be added to that list: The Many Dungeons.
ОтветитьI also do boxes in boxes. I will usually take the insert out of Fleet The Dice Game and add some Button Shy games and a deck of Rolling Realms. CTG's 20 Strong is great for travel, and before it came out, I have more than once taken enough components from Too Many Bones to play a true solo game. It actually does not take up much space if you only take what you need.
ОтветитьDeep Space D6 is my go to solo travel game. For Northwood is an excellent choice as well.
ОтветитьThank you for your recommendations, I just ordered Dimension from Kosmos and Ubongo from the same series. From my side I can recommend IQ pocket series from Smart Games. Those are all small puzzle games in plastic boxes with challenge booklet inside with 5 levels of difficulty. The quality of these games is very good and they are not expensive. I have almost all from the series and my favorite are IQ Focus, IQ Digits, IQ Twist, IQ XOXO and for those who are looking for more difficult challenges I can recommend IQ Fit, IQ Puzzler Pro or IQ Six Pro. In 2 last you are building not just 2D pattern but also 3D.
ОтветитьThe only solo games I've taken on trips so far is Sea, Salt, and Paper (fan made solo on BGG) and Fliptown. I definitely need to create a little travel game box that I can easily grab before trips.
