Game Dev Analysis | Dragon Ball Sparking Zero HUGE Improvements

Thanks to everyone who watched and commented on my last DB Sparking Zero video. It was great to see my fellow fans defend and stick up for the Dragon Ball franchise.

This video is hella dope and insightful I actually watched through the entire thing. Shit gets me hella hype for the game

Love your analysis man! Id also really like to see a new comparasion video from the previous trailers to more up to date footage. You should also take a look at the japanese builds, also that online match bandai promoted cuz imo it looks a lot cleaner

As an aspiring game developer I appreciate videos like this they provide a good amount of insight into the process and the smaller mechanisms that many glaze over when playing a game. Great video cant wait to see more!

The Picking a character menu is really trash and feels cheap af

Gohan looks so weird after he transforms. During the transformation, his facial animation looks fantastic, but after the transformation is complete, it somehow looks worse. It's surprising that this problem is not barely addressed. It's partly done with characters like ssj3 goku, in the beginning he looks very muscular, after the transformation he becomes thin. I don't understand why there is in general no consistency. By that I mean in Gohan's example the facial animation should be kept or the thing with Goku where he should keep the more muscular form.

Few details o noticed in the new trailer are that a couple ginyu force members have the wrong shoes, Zarbons shoes are the wrong color, and Ssj namek Goku is way too skinny

Hey, I never saw the first video, but I just wanna point out that the game has a lot of characters (164+), and the trailer you were talking about shows mostly characters that aren't that important and so they wouldn't put as much effort into them (They also do not have much source material) . On the other hand, this gameplay is obviously showing main people like vegeta and frieza, etc, so of course they'll go all out with them.

I work in the games industry as well and I always have to approach videos like this with trepidation. Why things are impressive is a matter of perspective -- for things that the fans (not trying to separate us versus them, again - we're all fans) are not super crazy on, like the selection screen, there's still a lot of love poured in that isn't always surface-level, and you did a great job giving people a look into the minds of where that love is coming from. If I was working on this game, I'd probably be watching this video on loop for the next week straight. I think fans should be allowed to ask for as much as they want and for the most part they seem very happy, but this is appreciation from a completely separate plane, and it's so refreshing to see.

Awesome video and I hope you will revisit the final release for an analysis.

They need to add a lot more of impact on a lot of attacks and more injuries on characters

I’m still confused on why you think the new trailer was terrible, because you are saying all the stuff you like are from actual gameplay when in the trailer it was just showing off characters and not really any gameplay because that’s what the whole trailer was about. I watched the trailer again and don’t see anything wrong with it.

Hey man. I saw that first video. You’re great with your analysis and made me see the mistakes that I wasn’t able to notice at first. I think your critique is necessary in order for large gaming companies to be held accountable for what we all know they can do better at. Very well spoken and ion subscribe to many people often but I think you’re content and you’re ability to articulate yourself in a gentle yet stern and sure way is a beautiful balance my brotha! Sparking zero is a great game if it has combos that go at least 30 hits or more without max power

All characters do the same kicks in the combos😅More creativity,variety and large movesets,not 5 moves for each one...Xenoverse wins that battle by far customizing movesets and having large list of moves.Shame.

I'm disappointed that I missed the chance to see the first video. I would have loved to hear your thoughts on the most recent trailer.

Can I get your opinion on how they say they need to limit local multiplayer to the hyperbolic time chamber map due to the effects and map destruction being too difficult to implement in conjunction with it. Also, that it was more or less an afterthought/ last minute addition. They say this in the modes trailer.

The visuals is the least of their concern, what they really need to focus on is the combat and combo reset capabilities. That's the deciding factor as to weather this game is going to stay relevant. Bt3 is still relevant today and that says alot.

I like hearing factual insights from a game developer that are actually valid and not mere opinions. I wish you kept the other video up because I started to see exactly what you were talking about. I'm someone who is considering going to school to become a video game programmer. I have many ideas and don't see why I can't bring them to life.

brother you can share your cirticism about the game if more than anything it helps the game because the devs notice it and improve it they themselves said they wanted constructive criticism so be free to criticise what looks bad, but what did you notice bad about the namek and saiyan trailer? i did not see anything wrong with it, what did you see wrong or bad in that trailer?

Enjoyed the video, and would love to see another from you covering this game once it’s out and giving your opinion on it. I really like the visual style of this game but one critique I’d give is that I’d like the environments to feel more illustrative (though l love how much detail they put into the terrain). As they are now the characters contrast against them because of the different shading styles (which I guess could be intentional). What do you think of the environmental shading?

I think it would be cool to see you do an analysis on the older trailers as well to see your thoughts on how far they’ve come from when they first showed us the game up to now. Both good and bad thoughts too so people don’t think you’re hating or over exaggerating the game.

I actually don't think the character select screen is creative at all. They all have the same pose except for Frieza and don't do anything that demonstrates their personality. Its very basic.
Like if you've seen recent Genshin Impact gameplay they did character selection in a much more interesting way. Something like that would have been great.

Each character not only has a unique pose but also comes onto the screen in a unique way. Some jump in with a backflip (Xiangling), some slowly turn around to the viewer(Zhongli), and some twirl around their weapon (Yun Jin or Jean) or showcase their ability (Nahida or Sigewinne).
Could also do something like Star Rail did where characters react to the other characters that you are selecting on their team.

The transition to the battle looks a lot better as this is where they put in a lot of that sort of characterization with their introductions.

Previous dbz video you did was great. Showed a lot wrong with the game that needed to be addressed and I thank you for that. Im super excited for it too but like you said, people need to be aware of what theyre buying rather than blindly following the hype.
