I have a question i have songtrust i also have music reports i wanted to know if my music is registered with songtrust can i also register them to music reports or do i have to unregistered my music with songtrust to register my music with music reports?

Ok so hfa,the mlc and music reports collects your mechanicals so do i still need a distributor like a cdbaby or tunecore? Also if my music plays on the radio overseas can bmi collect my public performance overseas or they only can colllect in certain placeses overseas?

Ive noticed songtrust is just a waste of my time i have alot of music i haven't registered yet i think im gonna stop using songtrust from here on out

Not all us that is living in the United States and UK. again how are we gonna distribute to streaming platforms if we follow that way? look, I think you should do us a video. do a for Nigerians on how we survive it because are the music companies we have here doesn't work. Wow this is just what I needed. I've definitely been at the crossroads of using CDBABY Pro again or just registering my album with Ascap without them. My dilema was prompted after looking into my ASCAP and seeing CdBaby owned 50% of my copyright and such. It kind of confused me but my takeaway here is that I don't need to give CDBaby those rights and I can simply sign all future projects up through ASCAP directly. Sounds right? Either way you are a valuable resource and I intend on booking you for a call on multiple occasions as I navigate this upcoming release. Blessings.

Not sure if this tool is in the course - but Songview is a song ownership tool developed by ASCAP and BMI - I've used Songview on my earlier songs and found out the detailed publishing split CdBaby and Songtrust had on my song "Treasure" which has done well in overseas markets. I cancelled Cdbaby/Songtrust (Cd Baby Pro used Songtrust as pub admin) and now have my Ascap Pub account to collect those publishing royalties.

if mlc is a passthrough entity, why would anyone want to affiliate with bmi/ascap for a greater percentage?

If I just write lyrics, should I try to get as many artists making different song versions of the lyrics or should I just sell those lyrics to one artist. I know you said keep the master and have as many different versions as possible, but that just apply to the song or does it also apply if there's no song, just lyrics?

I'm not sure if you can address music tracks in libraries but hopefully you have some info to share....
I belong to a couple of Music Libraries with over 325 tracks uploaded.

But I have one track (two versions, :30 and :15 alt) NOT registered w BMI --- that is used in the radio commercials of a major US retailer for over a year.
For these tracks I am compensated $1,750 a month from the retailer.
I have yet to upload the tracks to any music library.
If I upload to say, Scorekeepers, how does that affect the retailer?
