The Audio Spectrum Effect - Adobe After Effects tutorial

I'm assuming this only works on smaller band-sizes? I can't seem to get perfect squares with 64 bands, it partially fills part of the square at the top...

I was wondering. Can you create this animation without audio? Like, just the animation. without linking it to an audio layer. Thank you

Wonderful tutorial! I was trying to learn how AE renders audio spectrum and just found out that it is something already built in. When looking at another much simpler tutorial, I wondered about how I could do this very kind of spectrum bars you displayed. As soon as I entered your video, my mind decided to give up on its laziness and I kinda figured out the exact same steps you've shown before even getting to the actual steps, but I would still need to find where the effects were. Thanks a lot for this video. You are a very charismatic and efficient teacher. Quick question: are you Canadian?

Love the tutorial, Can After Effects produce a stand alone Sound Spectrum, IE: Spectrum that picks up sounds from mp3's played through a different program other than After Effects??
If so how is that done? I would appreciate any help

Leaving bar width at 1-3 and applying minimax effect instead of mosaic has better results for me.

Is there a way I can make the spectrum hit on the low frequency's of a piece of audio.. For example when the song drops and the Low frequency bass comes in?

Thanks for the awesome looking audio spectrum, your tutorials are really easy to follow and end up looking great!
I did make the mistake of putting my audio spectrum where i wanted it to be before putting the effects on so i was kinda like "It's not working!" but i did as you said and messed around, and now it looks baller. From now on im not doing my own thing until your done because i like to do things the easy way instead of goofing about and then not having a clue.
Big thanks again and I'l definitely be coming back for more AE tips and tricks. Oh, and sorry about the essay :)
