G. F. Handel: Messiah HWV 56 (fantastic performance)

My piano teacher in the late '50's, Mr Weber, was German. He was also our church organist and had nothing but contempt for the Messiah; he considered it to be "pagan music"! He influenced me against carefully listening to this masterpiece until I reached my 30's! I guess I've made up for lost time. This recording is my favorite of all the versions I have ever heard.

If Handel was alive to witness such an excellent and exceptional performance of his work, he would have been moved emotionally. The total ensemble from the conductor, the soloists and the chorus were all transformed during this performance. Their souls were lifted, raised to a divine place and they delved into their souls to deliver such an exquisite rendition. Indeed the trumpet sounded, the orchestra responded, and the singers were all changed during this performance 👏 Even the dead were raised incorruptible!
