i got a problem where when i play guitar the way the melody and chords are always ends up sounding too pop for what i write in terms of lyrics

Thats where i get chopped a tad short, cus I can fuck around with one but dont know how to play guitar chords. I also dont read music I play by ear. I always keep it simple but with that said I really enjoy how much is going on in all of your melodies.
