It's why relative to its era C&C was a meaty game and also had units that responded the best. I also love SC but...Dragoons on a ramp/stairs, need I say more? Going up a ramp requires a bloody masters degree!

Every unit in the game was amazing except (limpet drone) it still scares me.

Westwood studios best game developer , C & C Best RTS Ever , With the exception of Dune . Kane was a great baddy . Was never the same with EA taking it over , Westwood fan all the way , I used to play the game for a full day very often , Also love Bladerunner game that came out in 1997 . Brilliant ! Cheers Louis and the team . Welcome back commander !

Westwood was always inferior to Blizzard. Pathfinding was difficult... in 1994. It's been solved for 25 years. But in CNC it's still considered quantum computing level difficulty.

Oh so the game was actually influenced by Wargames(movie of a kid battling AI almost causing Nuclear WW3)! I didn't know that. Thats so cool and really makes sense.

"things started to work pretty reasonable", that's developer talk. Because he knew how much better things could work.

We need a Red Alert 2 definitive edition or remasterd. Like Starcraft and AOE2. So the trinity is complete. RA2 Definitive Remaster Collection

The 1st time I saw C&C 1 Tiberian Dawn was with my brother in the gaming section of a store (Vilan Aarau xD) on the Playstation 1, probably in 1995/96.
I was like 8 and he 10 and we were totally blown away!
We started drawing those bases, units and stuff which got burnt into our minds.
I don't remember when, but we finally got our very own copy and didn't have to go to the market anymore. It was a blast!
When Tiberian Sun got released I was once again mindblown! I got the game even before having a PC to play it 🤣Sometimes I could go with my mom to her friend's apartment and played on her PC, it was special, because rare, since she didn't live nearby. So, I would play the whole night and had to be careful not to open the internet browser (expensive haha). When at home I read the manual tons of times and stared at the beautiful box's artstyle so much... Happy times!
I still have all original copies of the games and the PS 1 from back then :D

Now my mom's friend is not doing so well anymore and I help her out sometimes. It keeps bringing back the memories and occasionally I still play the games. Now even with the remastered edition and stunning mods^^
Thanks goes out to the devs! Cheers!

It's interesting to learn about some of the details that went on behind-the-scenes, years later.

I remember playing this as a teen and not really thinking too much nor too in-depth in terms of how the dev team accomplished this, but as someone who is much older now, I can definitely appreciate it a lot more.

I have to write this here that tiberian sun was peak of tiberium story and setting. The new studio ruined the mood and completely forgot the style of the game with c&c3. Futuristic mechs and tech were disrecarded for that middle east hooah market by ea los angles.

Westwood games are so well made that even up to this day, there are players still playing it and modders making their own spin-offs to expand the tiberium and red alert universe.

"Make sure pathfinding doesn't do something stupid" .... So did this guy actually play their first game Tiberium Dawn? As much as I like the first one, it has to have the worst pathfinding I remember.

Remember how the path finding in the original Command and Conquer was bugged so that the computer would never attack walls? It became super easy to beat a level by boxing the enemy into their base.
