Other grocery retailers aren't "experimenting" with warehouse-based fulfillment. They're going full-steam ahead with it. I work just a few hundred feet from Kroger's first Ocado robotic warehouse. The only thing between us is a new, empty warehouse built by Bed Bath & Beyond before they backed out and abandoned it. Kroger immediately bought it and began converting it into an expansion to their first one, just to keep up with the booming demand. It truly is a beehive of an operation, with delivery and supply trucks in and out all hours of the day and night. Kroger is absolutely beating Amazon at their own game.

Every year tons of grapes end up in the trash or in wine then goes into the trash or into other foods that go into the trash.

Comment section is full of people claiming Wholefoods to be better than before it was bought by Amazon. Well, the same people might be criticizing Wholefoods for some other stuff before the acquisition happened.

People will never support good places in their bad times and will cry when those places leave and something worse comes up.

I've been to the Los Angeles location not too long ago and I walked in and walked right back out. I immediately felt creeped out and I just felt that Amazon/Whole Foods was "doing too much" with all them cameras. Maybe I am old school (I'm 27), but I have no problem going into a grocery store like Vons, putting my stuff in a cart, wait in line to check out, and go home.

This is the only retail business model that works in democrat-run cities. It's impossible to steal because you're tracked constantly and you basically do the same thing as a thief would: grab and walk out. This idea may have a bright future.
