Hi Nicole, greet video. I have a question, hoping you will be able to answer it. Can I download images or vector designs from Adobe Stock under a standard license, and then modify the same image slightly in Canva and then use the modified image on a merch product (like say a poster)? The extended license per image is too expensive, so I was hoping there is a cheaper way to make standard license images fit for commercial use.

Thank you for this tip. I found an odd example of an Editorial Licensed photos. It was just a over- saturated, starry sky; with silhouettes of a forest. I can't see anything in that photo which would deem it Editorial. Did the photographer possibly upload it with the incorrect license?

I am confused about product photos/videos used in product review blogs/videos that have affiliates links as well. What type of license should they have?

Helpful video thank you. Regarding the picture of yourself, do you need a property release for the building in the background?

I know you're a big fan of Shutterstock. What do you think of their new earnings structure? LOADS of very unhappy Shutterstock contributors out there!

Hi Nicol, I took a picture under a bridge with my daughter in the picture is graffiti in the background Shutterstock refused it because the release of the rights to the artwork is missing. How can I give them a document to a street art the artist did not sign. Even as an artist, he does not have the legal right to do it on the walls. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.

Hi Nicole, I've been photographing for the last 10 years but only now trying to start my stock photography adventure. Would you have any tips for a beginner stock photographer, but not really an amateur photographer overall ?

Another question I wanted to ask you is what you recommend in terms of language. If I submit a photo of a city in Poland where I live in, do you think the title or keywords should be in english (which most people use) or polish (since more polish people may be interested in the image). Do you have any experience of past questions about language? Should I mix english and polish within the image's keywords?

This video is great. I really would like to get into editorial photography. Signing up for Shutterstock (editorial) looks like you need a portfolio. As well as answers about how long you’ve been a pro photographer, credentials, etc. Is there any hope of getting that approval before creating a lot of content?

And is your webpage a good example of a “portfolio”?

I don't where else but here in your comments to post this question: I've been in St. Louis again, lately, and I got it crammed in my face how beautifully pictorial the south side is. It is a 100 year old area mostly, with row houses, churches of meticulous beautiful architecture, etc. I am wondering where I might find keywords for the pictures I have of it? Incidentally, I always shoot this kind of picture in at least 3-step hdr, to capture the different color/light levels, make it stand out more. Anyway, what's a good source for keywords? Thanks!

Hey Nicole,
first of all I want to say I really love to watch your videos. I find them really helpfull and motivational :). As a newbee in stock fotography I still struggle a bit with rejections and sometimes I can't see why. I am educated graphic designer and I would say I am pretty okay in evaluate wich images have a good quality and wich not. But Shutterstock really made me doubt XD. Sometimes I get approvals on images where i thought: "Okay this quality is close to the border. If this gets rejected, it wouldn't even surprise me." and then I get rejections on pictures where I thought: "This shouldn't have any issues at all" I am talking about this "Image contains excessive noise, grain, artifacts and/or is poorly rasterized" rejections. Could you please make a video about what stock sites see as a technical perfect image too? It is sometimes really frustrating to get rejections on pictures and you can't see the issue they saw, to do it better next time. Especially when you put time and effort in these pictures. Feels like gambling some times :(. Some of them i took with my smartphone (108mp, maybe you know wich i mean) on a clear and bright day on a marketplace. No closeup or zoom. For my understanding really good quality. But i got it rejected because of "excessive noise, grain, artifacts and/or is poorly rasterized". It was a Sunny day and i had the shadows from the buldings behind me halfways on the market place. Could that be a reason maybe?

And just another question on this video. I recently took pictures of a product in my light tent. Is it just enough to remove the logo on this product to could upload it as commercial, or do i also have to manipulate the design a bit. Remove holes, edges or buttons. And can i upload both images (the one with the logo as editorial and the one without as commercial)?

Greetings from northern Germany :)

Keep up the good work. I am fan :D <3

The one good thing about shut-down ... more videos from Nicole Glass. Every cloud has its silver lining. Here in the UK we are to stay at home, except to go shopping for groceries and medication and for one exercise walk, run or bike ride per day. No contact with friends and to keep away from all humans except those in our household. Obtaining groceries etc is like playing Russian Roulette but what can you do. I hope you stay safe.

Hi Nicole, Great advice as always. I had a question about commercial products. Is really all that is required is to remove the logos, especially on widely familiar products? For example, the Chevy Corvette is pretty iconic. If I have one in a photo, is it really OK to submit it as a commercial image as long as I have removed all the Chevy and Corvette logos? It just seems that everyone will still know its a Corvette, logos or not.

Hi Nicole - I am watching from Newfoundland, Canada. I value and appreciate the lessons you share. I am like a sponge - so much to learn! I have had a room ready for a while. I have an iPhone, Canon T7i camera, a MacBook Air and iPad (older version, will need to be replaced soon). I am seeking your guidance with regards to identifying the basics I need to begin doing home videos verses outdoor videos. I aim for quality but am on a restricted budget - my purchases need to be strategic - that is if I can buy a microphone and tripod that could be multi-purposed would be great. Do you have pro and con list for Vlogging verses outdoor still videos? I plan on taking and sharing videos while travelling around our province in our RV this summer and will continue doing videos from home when I can. Thank you for sharing.

Reminds me back in my assisting days and we'd photographed a home for an upcoming TV news promotion. Guess the photog presumed we didn't need a property release since it was for a news story. But the network was contacted by the homeowner when the photo of their home turned up in major newspapers, TV Guide & on TV. Not sure how much the network paid the homeowner to make that one go away.
