I was on holiday in Hong Kong & thought ‘as I am so close to China, I will spend a couple of days there. I took the train. In Shenzhen I went to the none Chinese side of passport control & found that I was the only one there. Instead of following the the zig zag guide ropes I went down the side of them in a straight line. Just before the customs official, I bobbed under the rope. A Chinese railway policeman made me go back and walk all the way through the rope system. He was waiting with a silly grin on his face. Thankfully he couldn’t speak English because through a forced smile I said to him “If brains were dynamite, you wouldn’t have enough to blow your nose.” 🙏

The ADHS guy (u30) who lives above me walks the same way. he drives me nuts.

While the walking/running jokes were funny. It’s actually way better for you to run on your “toes”. Hitting your heels first means you’re breaking your stride every time your feet strike the ground

I will be on the travelator unless I come across that annoying family that doesn't want to walk and doesn't come from London. Minimum two people, often three with a bag each. Those ones with the extendable handle and wheels which they hold off to one side so that there is no way you will get past them.
If you walk on the travelator you will be faster than anyone else, but if you are standing still the people not on the travelator will be able to walk faster than you are being moved.
Just stand to one side for goodness sakes, someone might have a connecting flight to make. So yes sometimes it pays just to ignore it and do the fast walk next to the travelator.
