IRS Form 1099C Cancellation of Debt

Can you help, what if they have a lien on your property do they have to remove the lien after filing the 1099C

I did my taxes and they came out to thousands on return I then received a 1099c and added it to my taxes and then they came out to 50$ tax refund

Sad that everyone is thinking they can magically wave a wand to have their debt cancelled. I learned of this by accident. My family was hit this year with trauma and tragedy and after pouring my guts out to my car financier of why I can’t pay my car, they sent me to the “hardship” team who listened, wrote a report then told me she will be in contact with me. I honestly was only looking for a few defer paymemts. She called me next day to offer a new agreement that cut my car debt from 27,000 to 10,000. My payments were more than slashed in half and interest went from 14% to 5%. They also told me I would get a 1099 C as this is a gift. Feel grateful and will be looking into this for my credit cards as I just can’t do it and need to move on from our tragedy with not feeling stressed about the debt.

We are the lending company, we are the lender they are the debtors so we can file the 1099 C we are the lenders
