Originally I was going to do a video about LoRa & LoRaWAN, however it was far too much for one video. I'll have a follow-up LoRaWAN video out very soon.

Early in to video it was mentioned that the data is(Or as I assume can be) encrypted. I don't see the usage of any keys, and it seems each device is reading one another in the clear. Are there examples of using LoRa with it's encryption features? That way you could use it without a 3rd party messing with your network.

I wish youd mention to people that they do t have to spend hundreds of dollars on adafruit hardware to learn. I donate learning kits and if i had to use adafruit products, id never be able to do it. They charge 5 dollars plus tax in canada for a single 8mm pl9823 led.

I tenf not to watch you anymore because you perpetuate this underlying elitist-poor shaming. Ada Limor is a hack who stifles stem learning by charging so much for parts that are priced over 10 times the industry norm.

LoRa is a 900Mhz signal so line of site is pretty much what you need between radios. No buildings, mountains, etc. Elevation is used for long distances. If using radios on the ground, 3 miles is considered line of site on a completely flat ground.

Great video, but I do have a suggestion. The way you are using millis() for timeout will fail due to rollover. millis() is an 32 bit uint. When it exceeds 0xffffffff it rolls over to 0x0, causing the timeout check to fail after ~49 days. This is obviously not a problem for testing but if someone leaves it running, it will be. You can check by determining if new millis() < old millis(), if so then elapsed time=(0xffffffff-old) + new.

I was thinking to use something like that as a wearable tracking device but 150mA sounds like too much current. And that's just the module. uC will draw some current two. It would drain the battery quickly. I wonder what kind of technology they use in Alzheimer wanderer devices. I understand it would need a uC, a GPS, and then some kind of a radio or 4g connectivity. That sounds like a lot of power consumption and I am not sure how it could be made small enough to hide in a shoe or clothes etc. and also without having to pull it out to recharge it all the time.

Do you think it is theoretically possible to build a video transmission system on LoRa receivers and transmitters (similar to the Semtech SX 1280 module), albeit with low resolution?

Why doesn't anyone have a video that explains this in laymen's terms? All of the tech lingo used in the vudeo is so foreign. Every video on this subject assumes the viewer knows all the tech lingo, hardware, and software. The only laymen explanations everyone gives is how the nodes work - which is meaningless when trying to understand setting up a network

Also I have followed the step in the section LoRa with micropython code and demo, but there are some question on my code. I used raspberry pi pico with the code, and it would turn out "AssertionError: LoRa initialization failed". May I asked you what may be happened with this problem? thank you.

This has got me excited for a project I want to try where the remots have GPS and track location and speed of 7.5" scale track trains at our train club giving the engineer and idea of their speed but also reporting back to the station the location and speed using LoRa. They travel through a wooded property so I'm excited to see how well it might work in the woods.

I have been following your channel for a while and think it is one of the best explanations and the code that we can download. I would like some more explanation about the Heltec ESP32 v3 board in the future. I would like to control a relay from one board with push buttons on the other board.
maybe you can show us a little more about that. Thank you in advance for all those beautiful videos you make.

Great video. For the wireless transmission part, you chose RFM9X with SPI interface. Have you considered other modules with other interfaces, such as UART or RS485. Maybe, then It can transfer further, like LOS10~20km.

hi
thank you very much for your explanation
i have esp32 s3 N16R8 and i the board has no GPIO 19 and no GPIO 23
i have followed my esp pin out it has SS in GPIO 10 , MOSI in GPIO 11, MISO in GPIO 12 and SCK in GPIO 13
i have more than 100 tries to make it run with out success its giving me the error of connection fail
can you please explain how to connect it or if there is any way to redefine the pins so i can connect my lora
im using LoRa-02 SX1278 433MHz
i have tried with almost all boards that im having
wish to get replay
thank you

Are they still working on Giga R1? Can you tell me about the pin setups and software needed to get one or more of the touch screens working on it? I have read on spec sheets about D1N, D0N, D1P, D0P, CKN, CKP + D68-D75 being the display oriented pins, but that doesn't tell me enough to know what displays and chips will work with it.

Thanks! Very informative. One question about the payload, is that a standard format? How do you know a packet is actually intended for you ? If your neighbor ran the exact same code would you both process each others packets ? How do you assure unique communication pairs ?

Hello Bill, thanks for your show, invaluable, would like to know, if it's o.k. to use the R4, with Minima + wi-fi, to achieve long range connections, as you mention in your introduction to this Arduino Circuit. This Circuit is cheaper, and want to get started. Thanks again, watching your show, like going to Class. Loving it..🌹😊
