QUEST 3 AS PCVR HEADSET - The Perfect Upgrade For Your Index, Reverb G2 or Pico 4?

So I own a Gen 1 Reverb. Would getting a quest 3 be a great step up? I would assume the resolution is not as high? Half life alyx looks amazing in my reverb.

There are rumors according to which it's possible to connect USB network adapters to the Q3. Any idea if those are true? I feel like these people on reddit might be trolling others.

My Reverb G2 still looks better than the Quest 3 because of the display port on my 3080ti.
Also in FPS games I do better with my Reverb G2 so there is some latency going on with the Quest 3.
The FOV and stuff is nice on the Quest 3 but like my Quest 2 I am just using it to sweat in exercising now...
PSVR2 is my daily driver. If only it could connect to a PC!
No PCVR game looks as good as GT7 and Breachers plays so smooth on it.
Actually every game plays smooth on the PSVR2.

When I play DCS either wired or wireless in the Q3 I am experiencing a blurry and/or under rendered lower part of the lenses. Like the bottom 20% of the view straight across left to right is considerably less resolution that the other 80% of the screen. Any other game doesn’t do this. Visuals are great across the entire lenses. Anyone experiencing this as well?

What if you aren’t on a 4090 but you are on a 4080? Would I still get that wow factor??

My subscription from your channel honestly disappered for some reason, I am not crazy, I had to specifically search for the review, now that I already have the thing for some 10 days or so.

I will say, coming from the Psvr2, I'm really in love with this headset, the lenses in the Psvr2 make me crazy, losing the sweet spot all the time, and this is so clear all around compared. Also, the Psvr2 has no games that interest me, I played RE Village, some Gran Turismo, and that was that mostly, while with this, I just finished Half Life Alyx via Virtual Desktop, and you can do spacewarp with that, plus there's an option called snapdragon supersampling, and it looks very nice, even without those options, and on PC there's SO MUCH stuff to choose from!!

I'm fiddling even with a VR version of the Dolphin emulator now that is amazing in somne games, like Zelda WW and Mario Galaxy.
And I got some emulators installed on the Quest 3 via an app called sidequest. It's just so cool.
And again, the lenses here are so very much better than those on the Psvr2, it feels like a breath of fresh air, I'm really happy :)
I think I will eventually get the Bigscreen beyond, since it's so small and light, but I'm very happy for now!

I almost got an used Index, but what sold me on the Quest 3 was being able to go wireless, even with pcvr games.

Latency??? What about Latency vs something like the G2 or even the Rift S?

Unfortunately for me my ipd is 55mm, have still yet to sell my reverb g2 but can never get it to look clear to me, my oculus rift s looks a lot more clear, unfortunately.

I have an rtx 2070 super and primarily want to play DCS world. Do you think quest 3 would be viable or stick with g2? trying to choose my first headset

To people that say they cannot see screendoor on the Quest 3, your eyesight is way off. It is absolutely very noticeable on Quest 3. When you first power up the Q3 and the Meta logo shows up, the screendoor is very visible on the logo. 25 ppd is nowhere near what it will take to not see the screendoor anymore.

this "Q3 4 PCVR" whole thing is getting simply ridicolous....."if u got a 4090" u can compress video and send throught a cable (and still getting artifacts and computetional power loss)......
Real truth is that PCVR is no market-interesting to Meta or other BigCompanies......and i cannot understand why some small company cannot make a newer optics-screen combo, take out all the CPUs and add a simple video-port for PC connection....

i have a g2 its cable went faulty for no reason its not damaged physically it just failed on its own i am planning to buy the cable and sell it and get quest 2 or 3 what do you think?

I don't understand your Quest 3 hype. I come from the old HTC Vive and I see no bigger FOV . Games like HL:Alyx look awful in dark scenes. I still see pixels. Wireless VR is nice but I see now clear Banding everywhere. The Quest hearts even with the Elite strap on my face 😢 (my old Vive with the deluxe Strap was a dream!) ...I cannot scan my whole house and can't save already scanned locations, so I have to do a new scan every time if I change my location from my working room to the living room - that is really annoying 😢

Just recently purchased a Q3 with elite strap and own a 4090. Coming from a G2 the edge to edge clarity is amazing. Very impressive for the price.

Hi guys I was wondering what is a great OLED or Micro Oled headset for pcvr since I have a 4090 etc?

One not mentioned here is that a used quest pro for the same price as quest 3 + strap $$ is better for pcvr. Qled colors (better than my aero), local dimming, better blacks, 10bit rgb, dynamic foveated rendering, face tracking (check Zuck/Lex interview), better design, balance, jet fighter visor look and more comfortable after adding a horizontal strap, also removing the forehead pad for similar fov. Best value headset at $600-700.

Did you mention the battery going dead on Quest 3 where not an issue on others

This is the video I was waiting for so thank you! As a Reverb G2 owner for the past couple years, I've been pretty happy but the below average FOV and very small sweet spot has always bothered me and created some motion sickness. I'm definitely considering the Quest 3. Bigscreen Beyond and Crystal are just too expensive.

Finally, the review I've been waiting for!
I sold my Index over the summer as I wasn't using it as much - I had no dedicated space to leave all the cables and base stations setup without it feeling super cluttered, so it became a pain in the butt to use because it was setting it up from scratch every time.

I find it really odd that Sebastian firmly says multiple times "no glare" on the Quest 3, because I'm experiencing lots of glare. Maybe I have a faulty unit? Obviously I don't experience god rays, but the edges (and I mean a big area of the lenses) whiten significantly in scenes which are dark with a brighter section also visible, especially notable I think if the brighter area is visible at the top. Highly visible in caves and corridors. I think possibly this is what other people refer to "fogging".

VR-Rock have not yet responded to any of my emails! I ordered my prescription lenses early in September, and I'm still waiting. I just want to either cancel or just get my inserts already. Enough is enough for Gods sake! VR-Rock! give me my lenses or please, please respond to my many emails! Thank you.

QuestGamesOptimizer v9.0.0 was released today for the Quest 3. Please can you do a review on the improvements to Quest 3 resolution etc?

I only really use VR in flight sims. I have a 4090 and 13900 cpu. I have been using an Index since it's release and have resisted "upgrading" as no headset has seemed better overall. With the arrival of my new Quest 3 this week- with a proper Link cable, bitrate up to 900, and the oculus resolution up to 1.3- it blows the Index out the water. Yes- sound is not as good, and neither is comfort. However- both of these things can be fixed. The lenses are amazing, and the resolution upgrade: wow! It is genuinely like seeing an HD panel for the first time.

Too shaky in my opinion in every VR headsets. Is there any "stabilization" because our eyes doing that while moving head even if heads moving by little bit.

While you guys are raving about Pico 4 and Quest 3 I got myself a nice pair of 80's red and blue glasses to enjoy my home movie theater in real 3D fashion. Forget jumping into the game, I let the characters jump out at me. Old school tech for the win. Cost me $ 5.00 bucks & it's more immersive than wearing a scuba mask while pretending to be submerged under water.

I have 200 FOV along with automatic pass through tech. : P

I'll still sooner recommend a full and complete headset vs a Quest 3 that needs a replacement accessories for every aspect of the headset right out of the box in order to even compete in terms of comfort, audio fidelity, and microphone quality for content creators and simple quality of life.

Mr Sultan of VR swank... Thanks for the review and doing the FOV test. I wonder how good this is using the link cable and having a 3070 GPU. I am not near the router at this location so I most likely would need to use the link cable.
