@tony: how is the situation 9 years later? Just waiting for my used copy. I will use it for milky way shooting. How did the kit lemses evolve over the generations.
ОтветитьEye-so,,,,, STOP THE MADNESS.
"I S O"
do you like sigma better than tamron
Ответитьso i need to buy a full frame camera
ОтветитьIs that a Notorious B.I.G. drinking glass ? With fancy straw ? Cool,
ОтветитьIf not this lens, what is the best portraiture lens for APS-C camera (T7i)?
ОтветитьWatching the video after 7 years, still makes sense though. Going to buy this lens. Thanks Tony for such a detailed review 😊
ОтветитьExcellent review!!
ОтветитьWOH. I did NOT know the crop factor also impacted the aperature!!! I tend to shoot FF but also keep a 7D for that little extra 1.6 factor reach. SO this won't work on an FF ?
ОтветитьHello : I have Canon EOS Rebel T6i - Can I use f1.8 for 1/100 ISO 100 for family picture (2 to 8 people) inside house with low light condition? If not what would you recommend the setting for sharp picture for a family picture (2- to 8 people)?
ОтветитьI just bought a second-hand lens for my Nikon D3300. While mounting, I feel a lot of resistance. Can that be a problem that might damage the lens or the body?
ОтветитьWatching this in Dec 2021, the lens is still doing well in most reviews ☺️👍🏽 planning to get it with an adaptor for my Fuji XT-4
ОтветитьI miss evil mustache goatee Tony.
ОтветитьHi Tony, question.. I've seen many comments about the Sigma 18-35 focus issues. Do you know if this has been corrected. I would love to buy this lens you recommend but am concerned about this problem. Thank you so much for your time and work. I have three of your books and have learned much from you. Thank you!!
ОтветитьCan you advice me how this lens will perform on a Canon R6? Thanks
ОтветитьEven after so many years of waiting, lens did not got cheaper nor any better replacement!
I am using Nikon d5500 with kit lens and 50mm prime lens.
Need something for indoor photography as 50mm is sometimes difficult to use
How well does it work wide open at 18 mm for astrophotography?
ОтветитьIs it a good choice for Nikon D5600?
ОтветитьI want to know how good these lenses are
ОтветитьThe f/value of a lens does not change no matter what camera it is used on. Full frame or C-chip or 3x4 censer. Where in God's name did you come up with the f/value needs to be multiplied by the crop to full frame factor. That is wrong at all levels.
ОтветитьTony two issues plz answer, one why u have to set iso on a higher side for full frame thats 1600 iso when you said crop body let less light in compare to full frame? I mean 1.8f on crop should let equal light in as 2.8f on full frame. Secondly focal length, why crop had 35mm and full frame had 70 when its should be 35mm and 56mm (35*1.6) on crop and full frame respectively. Please explain these two points.
Thanks for a great video✌️
Kit lens: AHHHH, CHROMATIC ABORATION
Sigma 18-35: what? huh?
@Tony & Chelsea Northrup does Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 have visible distortion and vignetting on Nikon D7500 camera?
ОтветитьShould I not buy this lense if I already own the 18-135 mm ?
ОтветитьYou want to improve your film making - invest in lens. All cameras are pretty much the same and talking about focal lengths and crop sensors is a load of crap. Buy the right lenses, frame your subject and keep shooting until you're proud of the results. Oh and forget shooting photos and video they dont make you money.
ОтветитьCan you tell me the sweet spot of this lens for video?
ОтветитьSigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM + NIKON Z50 + NIKON FTZ = AMAZING! AF SPEED VERY FAST & support EYE AF~~~ HAPPY it CAN BE USE ON YEAR 2020
Ответитьhi, how about stabilizer?... the lens and the camera doesnt have stabilizer.... nikon and canon doest have...on DSRL APSC...
ОтветитьThis man is brilliant, tels it as it is
ОтветитьAmazing! Thanks for this!
ОтветитьApplying crop factor to f stop only works in order to achieve the same DOF and noise ratio, NOT THE SAME EXPOSURE, or else light meters would include a crop variable. Please do not miss inform viewers. A FF camera set to "X" settings WILL HAVE SAME EXPOSURE as a MFT camera with same "X" settings. DOF and NOISE RATIO won't be the same.
ОтветитьDid you try the sigma 50-100?
ОтветитьThanks
Didnt realize that crop factor also applies to aperture
Sigma sharper than canon L lense
ОтветитьSorry Tony, NOT all of us are Multi Billionaires or we just don't want to get a "2 or 3 digit NIKON"..
ОтветитьI'm torn between sigma 16-35 1.8 or Canon 17-55 2.8 is usm? Alot of folks having focus issues with the sigma
ОтветитьCan we get tony as a bond villain please
Ответить"An 2.8 becomes an f4" That is just really incorrect. I shoot with a crop and a full frame simultaneously and I use the same lenses on both, crop and full frame lenses. The settings are always the same to get the same result.
Ответитьis this lens good for landscape? Thanks
ОтветитьGreat review doc
ОтветитьTony, thank for the review. I recently purchased the Nikon D7500 and am looking for a lens that won't break the bank for some golf course photography. I am looking for a high level of sharpness and like the f1.8 if I need to shoot in early morning or late evening light. I'd love to hear your thoughts if this lens is a good fit. Thanks, Jason
ОтветитьWhy is the F-Stop on an APS-C lens on an APS-C camera body, also multiplied by the crop factor? E.g. Canon M50 with the Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Also, has Sigma improved the focus pulling on this lens, as I wish to shoot indoor sports. Additionally, with the Viltrox speed booster work on this lens?
ОтветитьCan i use this lense on 5d mark iv ??
If yes then what changes it will make ??
Thanks in Advance
I can't believe it is a true f/1.8 for APS-C, this lens is like a dream. I saw this video years ago, but I couldn't appreciate at the time how good this lens is.
ОтветитьMan, I LOVE this lens, I've had mine since 2014 when I was shooting with a Canon 7D. I then sold my 7D to test the waters with mirrorless, so I bought a Sony a6000 and the Sigma MC-11. It has served me well, but I just upgraded to a Sony a7iii, and need a new wide prime to replace it with. Luckily I already had a Sony FE 85mm f/1.8.
If only Sony or Sigma made a 24-70mm f/1.8, I would jump all over that.
Thank you so much. I'm buying right now!!
