Sonic Superstars' Unused Music Tracks

I would’ve been so cool to see some of these songs as an unlockable somewhere in the game.

Sonic R was was SEGA’s greatest 3D game of the 1990s!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they should have made an entirely different mode where the game has Genesis graphics and these songs play

You can’t say ANYTHING good about the music in Sonic Superstars. It’s JARRING, INCONSISTENT, CHEESY, and EAR-BLEEDING. Nearly EVERY other Sonic game has better music than this DUMPSTER FIRE of a game!

I don't think XPand!2 is that bad. I actually like the sound of it.

The Sonic Superstars Soundtrack debate has always been tiring to me, I understand why people were mixed on the ost since so many people are very passionate about Sonic music, but it got to a point where people were talking more about the music than the actual game itself. I felt like people gave better constructive criticism to Jun’s music in the game than the gameplay.. to me, the soundtrack is fine. There’s just a few songs that actually border on unbearable listening.

Tbh I love the final version of press factory because it has more chaotic nature in its theme while the beta version sounded pretty empty when it’s a factory zone

Hey! I honestly thought the polarizing diff in superstars OST was because sega hired tee Lopes last minute because jun senoue is the main reason we have many genesis esque tracks in many modern 2d games, which fans have expressed hatred before. And also cyber station has 2 different unused versions!!!

I might be the only person that unironically likes the sound of Press Factory Zone.

Superstars OST's inconsistenty mostly comes from Senoue as sound director. He's always been inviting anyone he can to record music since SA1 and letting people do whatever they want but it backfired with TSR which was mediocre but at least consistent and Superstars because there's just too many clashing styles and instruments.

My Theory Is That Sonic Superstars Was Supposed To Be A 2d Game Just Like Sonic 1,Sonic 2,Sonic 3 & Knuckles

This is probably a hot take but I honestly don't mind the "inconsistency" of the soundtrack. Sonic games have had multiple styles in their soundtracks before this is nothing new.

And people's reaction to the "Sonic 4 sounding" songs is ridiculous imo.

No, not all songs in Superstars were composed using the instrumentation found in Sonic 4, which is why some songs, like Pinball Carnival 1 or Lagoon City 1, have no early full versions that align with that sound. They weren’t composed with that instrument set to begin with. The musical medley we hear during the credits was absolutely composed after the fact and, according to the OST, done by Yuzuru Jinma.

Sonic superstars has a great sound track minus fangs boss press factory act 1 the finished version and a few of the tracks from battle mode but everything else is good

Sega NEEDS to stop with the chip tune tracks. I really don't get their philosophy with wanting to push the Sonic series to the next level but still pander to Classic Sonic with design and music. Like give us back the Sonic Advance art style

One thing I hate that you said is "soundfont" when they didn't use any soundfonts. Not every game uses a soundfont and sonic is one of them that doesn't use them also, there's only a few tracks that use only one Genesis instrument or two. The rest is Vacuum and Xpand!2 which are not Genesis.

Incredibly weird, you'd think if SonicTeam or SEGA wanted to overhaul the soundtrack they'd do ALL of it. Glad modding is so common in the Sonic community so players can pick and choose their favorite versions of the tracks.
