I never knew that Joja was actually more expensive than Pierre’s. I’ve never shopped their, and if I remember correctly Jodi makes comments about feeling guilty about shopping at Joja, but it’s more affordable than Pierre’s.
I agree that I think the choice to go Community Center over Joja would be more poignant and significant if Joja was cheaper

I love the detail of "white bread fortified with nutrients" on the shelves. Wonderbread (now almost synonymous with Joja-esque capitalism and unhealthy processed food) was created when there was a legitimate nutrient shortage in the American food supply and we had no soldiers bc everyone had weak bones or something. So bam, wonder bread was jam packed with everything someone could need.

I decided to go the Joja Route for my Sam save file because I didn't think I could ever complete the remixed bundle. However, it took me until the end of Year 2 to complete the Joja Renovation thing and it wasn't really fulfilling, especially when Morris just asks me for more money afterwards.

It's pretty damn scummy to have higher prices than Pierre's just to justify getting a membership, Joja must be destroyed.....then again, it provides an easier way to get community bundle rewards as well as makings sure my man Shane has a job.

I'm going to be extremely honest I hate Pierre so much I'd shop at Joja if I didn't like the way the community center looked

jojamart is only there for when it's wednesday, or past the time pierre mans his counter (hate that about him) and i need to buy something

How about we LOSE friendshp all across town or even lose MAX friendship if we shopped at a cheaper Joja Mart.

Another thing that actually bothers me about the economy of Stardew Valley is that we're the only real farmer yet Pierre (and Joja Mart) mostly only sell seeds used for growing produce, rather than food itself. I understand this forces you to grow your own things for the bundles but I'd at least like to be able to buy lower quality goods for lower heart rewards and lesser bundles. And really how does anyone else in town eat without food on sale! Do they all eat Pizza at the Saloon only?

I also know you coming to Stardew Valley improves the lives of the people there when you start farming, but prices could start off high and quality low, and drop over time as you flood the market with better produce!

I like the Joja route for one simple reason.

I CAN MAKE MONEY HOWEVER I WANT.

I don't have to chase down Fish, or other garbage I don't care about.

A thing I always found funny in stardew is that Joja cola is labeled in the trash category instead of having none like coffee

I'm new to this game and I don't really consider this an EVIL playthrough. Its in that kinda morally grey area. Me for example, i wanted to just fish,grow crops,and sell them but because of the community center thing, they force you to mine, hoarde items that could be sold for money or crafting, and imo it kinda slows the game down. I feel like they need an option to complete the center in half a year as to give you more freedom. Like have only the spring and summer stuff needed.

As someone who went the community centre route first because friendship and getting to kick big evil corpo out, I have come to see the counter arguments for the JoJa route

1. Pierre is... a dick. For one, he takes credit for your high quality produce and then tries selling them to Gus as a bundle for tens of thousands of gold, with a "Organic" label put on. That plus he wants to grow so big and money producing makes him as greedy, if not more, than Joja.

2. Joja being around helps competition between stores. If Pierre's store was the only one there than nothing would change with Pierre, he would have no reason to. 

So yeah, Joja route and refusing to buy at Pierre's as much as darn possible!

"B-but joja is a massive corporation!" Yes and the town is ran by a clown who spends the money they could probably have used to repair the farm and the community center them selves on gold statues of himself but only cares about his job when it comes to shoving away the one women who trys to give him an emotional rock to lean on, the town's only local ran store is ran by a sexist asshole who doesn't even employ the people of the small town they are in and takes breaks during the working week which could be easily mended by haveing a single worker extra to reside over these days, they arnt gonna steal it's a small community they all know each other, which means hes just lazy and wants to keep all the money to himself, not to mention joja literally employs two of the residents of the town, AND I you go the joja route Pierre's doesn't even close, they don't even put him out of business but going the "good" route literally destroys the building of joja, to which they make you work even harder for a secret bundle just to get a MOVIE THEATRE that people hardly ever use.

Long story short the people that think joja is a "evil" or "bad" route either haven't played the game for very long and hear what others talk about it like, or are just short sighted because "ooooo big corporate building bad", like Pierre literally wants to become like joja, he aint better

I have played to year 4. The savedata is from the weeks stardew valley were reeased. Since then i only use this slot. Is it my feeling or is much much content releasd under my eye?

I just think joja is more convenient than the cc and also wanna be able to buy auto petters when 1.5 releases for mobile

I like joja mart. Their pay with cash mentality means I don't have to try and remember what fish I need to catch constantly and I won't have to wait till winter to buy all the improvements you can in fact get all the improvements before summer with joja mart so they seem like a better option for me. Granted most of those benefits are for me so I guess it is the selfish route.

It makes zero sense that Jojo costs more than Piere. Honestly, they are all about low prices.. So the game wasn't programmed right.

I didn't even know Joja actually sold stuff. I just thought itbwas the "evil giant store", but you could only talk to people there.

Honestly, I’ve wanted to try the Joja route, but it never makes much sense financially, the prices aren’t so significantly different AND you don’t get the friendship. So what’s the point really? Interesting video!!

Joja is actually nearer then pierre when you unlock the carts. And how can pierre get bankrupt if i investet 42k just for 2 bags and a catalogue?!

Its not my faultt lewis just gives up the community center just because i just bought a member ship. Why did he aprove them anyway if they are bad?. Or rather why did he let a bad corporation come to sardew valey at the first place. He is the true devil. By helping joja you create competition. I myself can by from joja and resell at higher prices just öike pierre is doing.

Joja should considered the better alternative.

The more I play the game, the more I side with Joja, actually. I hate Pierre lol. I like completing the Junimo requests and the CC, and all the little convenient items like lightning rods and crystalarium and cakes, but I don't want Pierre to win.
So for less important runs, or more experimental runs, I just go with Joja straight away because it allows my farm to set up faster, and it lets Morris win over Pierre.
If I play multiplayer with friends, though, completing CC is the way to go because it's way more diverse and fun.

I hope that, if Stardew continues to get updates, that if you go the route of putting Joja out of business, those who lose their jobs there get new ones based off your work in the community center. Shane could work with Marnie! Completing the community center is always bittersweet for me knowing I've cost Shane his job :(

I'm not sure about other places, but here in New Jersey it's often more expensive to buy from places like even Wal-Mart rather than buying stuff from your local farms. The only issue is that depending on where you are in Jersey, either it's super easy to get to the local farm and buy something there, or there isn't a local farm at all and it's all city and not as easy to reach. So, I'm not going to fault ConcernedApe for making JojaMart more expensive because it's at least true from my own experiences of living both in farmlands and later on in the city.
What I do find weird, though, is Morris coming into Pierre's advertising coupons to steal his customers. If I recall correctly, that's actually illegal to do and Pierre could've 100% have opened up a lawsuit with JojaMart over this.

I saw on some pro/con thing where siding with Joja mart is pure irony. Considering your character's previous job before coming to Pelican Town was a Joja Mart employee, you end up sort of becoming a minion to your previous employer once again
