I want to record video with the sound from audio recorder. To record the video, I click the red dot on the camera and it should automatically record the sound too, right? But should I also press the record on my audio recorder? Should the recorder indicate that the camera on the phone is using its sound? Hope my question makes sense, and hope you can help. Thanks

I really like to get this hooked up to my Stylos 5 ! I have this overly noisy neighbor whom id like to tape all her antics. Being that most the recording will be tape between the wall the noise is loud yet decibel wise is low ?! Ive placed a pp in my phone that deaf people my use to increase volume of any and all sounds made and maybe recorded from this app. Yet i needed a quick fix pair of recording Headphone for this app yet was talked into using this ?! What better without a lot of hassle to get this properly hooked up to my phone (mic cord / other) ?! Need to have this as if i were in the same room with this person ?! This app is great just needs a decent mic/ headphone (which the direction say to use. (Headphones) Thanks for your Reply !!

Hi, I'm using zoom h1n. I tried to use it as an external microphone for my android phone, but it doesn't work. I tried with an otg adapter and also with a klinke cable. Nothing happened. Do you have any idea why? Thanks

Thanks a lot, have you tested with success stereo audio input from zoom XY mics via USB OTG into "open camera" ? With older zoom H4 and one plus 6 I only get a mono audio track when editing with power director. open camera external mic option mentions stereo may depend on hardware.

I understood the method perfectly. But I'm looking for information about the connection between an Android 6.0.1 on a ZTE Blade A 512 and my Zoom H4 .
The situation is this:
I get a very distorted sound on the Zoom H4, even though I have good quality files on Android. There is no point in trying to correct anything with audio volume changes, because the problem remains. Wave or Mp3, the sound is clearly distorted. What should I do to fix this? Someone can help me?

To use the H1 as an external microphone for live streaming to facebook, you connected a splitter to the smartphones audio imput and then you connected the microphone imput on the splitter to the H1, is this correct? Where on the H1 do you connect it. Another question: this option doesn't use the USB port on phone or H1?

I am getting a strange thing happenning : I am able to connect my H4n Device and make it work with sound recorder apps on my Android Galaxy A40 phone but as soon as I try to shoot video - the sound is not longer getting picked up from the Zoom device but from the phone itself. Any ideas of why this is happenning? I have tried a different video Apps and the problem is the same! Strange because it IS working with Audio Apps!

For everyone interested in. I purchased a microphone / headphone splitter
cable and a USB c Type to Usb OTG cable for my Huawei P30 lite. The
result was positive in both cases using the Zoom H4n. In practice I can
operate the Zoom as a preamplifier and send the signal to the phone: in
the case of the analog connection the signal is sent via the headphone
output of the zoom, in the case of the USB, making the Zoom work as an
Audio Interface I / O (option of the menu). All of which saved me the
purchase of an expensive Irig duo. Hope this help.

I have a Moto G5, bought the splitter and connecting in your same way, the second session like an external microphone. The smartphone still using the internal mic. I tried to download "open camera" using the same method and selected "use external microphone" it works but the sound it's horrible, didn't clipping but horrible. I have a final question, is it possible to use the zoom as an external microphone for the shooting, for real? I can't understand why a lot of people say that it's working and with me no, I tried all the combinations

Amazing video. Please tell me if while zoom is connected and records as a USB interface to android phone, does it take power from phone or from battery? My zoom drains battery very quickly and I've tried connect it to power bank, through usb cable to use it (powerbank) as a external source of power. But powerbanks shoutdown down when current is to low. While connected to phone does it work without battery? And is there any difference in sound quality while audio interface mode and normal recording?
