Stray - Before You Buy

Does 24$ sound expensive for this game? That is the Appstore price for an M1 MacBook air. Also hows the performance for an M1 device with this game?

After grinding out tedious 120 hours on Valhalla, Stray was a very enjoyable change of pace. The story was really pleasant. A dedicated meow button is just so cool! Really enjoyed Stray. I took my time and ran 7 hours. Loved this game.

Is all about opinions. My opinion the game is mediocre and overhyped. Graphically, it is beautiful. But the gameplay is boring. And that's my opinion being on the last chapter of the game .

Two years later and this game still shines in my opinion. I have replayed it several times now. Though I agree that the ending continously makes me wish there was more.

I've been wanting to play this game for quite a while, but never really got to it until very recently. I finished about 2/3 of the game so far, but, if you're a casual gamer like me, the reviewer's depiction of this being a short and easy game can be more than a little misleading. While definitely not a very difficult game, I find the chase sequences very intense and challenging, and some puzzles are quite difficult. There are easier ones of course, but I find the overall game to be of moderate difficulty, and I find it to be of moderate length. It's actually a good-sized length for me so far. And it sort of feels similar to 'Inside', even though this one is fully 3D. 'Inside' also has a fair share of puzzles that are quite difficult, too. But then again, this is coming from someone who's played games on a very on and off basis for many years. If I were at it on a more consistent basis, maybe I'd think of it as easy, but from where I stand, it isn't. Other than that, it is a really good review, but I think it was reviewed with an experienced gamer in mind.

It’s an amazing game. Overall, I absolutely loved it. But one thing a lot of these reviews fail to mention is ‘the sewers’, or whatever the tunnel with all the zorks was (giant eye, y’know). That was a big trigger for me, and I had to get my friend to play through it because it was just too digusting for me.

I refunded it mid way through Chapter 2. It's so boring and there's no gameplay at all. I like short games but hate the presentation. It's too dark, gloomy and easy to get lost, but nothing interesting going on.

This is a great game imo. It scratches that mirrors edge itch and presents it in cat form. Really good game hope to see more of this in the future. It’s just a joy to be able to throw on a game and just chill, no time crunch and no grinding

One of the absolute most enjoyable gaming experiences ive ever had in my 30+ years of gaming. The atmosphere, the sound and visual design the mechanics being simple yet enjoyable i could go on and on. I could not put it down. My fav game of all time is a tossup between RE4 Doom Eternal and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time to speak to my tastes in gaming. Stray blew me away and i wasnt expecting to like it all that much initially. Dead wrong. 10/10 game

I think as a lot of us get older, we want more simply quick games like this. I’m a new mom with very little time for myself. I love that I started and finished the game within a week. I hate picking up a RPG and never having time to finish. Might as well never started it

the evil flesh eyes coming out of the walls were kinda creepy

The aesthetic of this game is unlike anything I've played before. It feels like a robot fever dream. Walking in an out of alleyways and bars, it's worth the money .

Ill also say that there seems to be much more than 4 or 5 hours of gameplay here, even if you rushed it. Maybe Gameranx crew just lost track of time, easy to do in this immersive world.

A PS4 hard copy in AU is $55...for 4 hrs of gameplay equals another developer who thinks a demo is a full game.
That's a hard pass from me.
I bought Fallout 4 GOTY, new, for less than that, and after 3 yeras, am still enjoying it without having finished it or needing or desiring to.

I have no interest in any game that has less than 20 hours gameplay, regardless of price.
It seems ever since it's now called The Gaming Industry, like many other companies and manufacturers since the early 2000s, they too are now reducing quality while increasing prices.

I came to this review from seeing the film Flow. Until I saw the very realistic cat in Stray, and the intricate, believable scenery, I was never interested in video games and didn't understand their attraction. After seeing parts of Stray, Now I understand and would definitely be interested in becoming involved in this game. Great work, both the game and the review -- thanks!

Why is no one talking about the bloodsucking balloon creatures???? You know, the ones that keep killing the cat?!? No, I am not the best gamer. I'm a 54 yo woman with spine issues and delusions of grandure(sp). I'm picking my way through a ton of shooter games and doing my best! Thought I'd take it easy with this one. WTH??? Catkilling bloodsucking balloon creatures everywhere and can't get my cat to run faster!!!! Where's the stray bear game?????

it's on sale right now for $18 and totally worth it, especially if you like cats and a poignant tale
