I think the best thing I do have going for me is a good 401k balance and pension. But I am currently looking to appreciate short term opportunities for 2024, Thanks again for another good piece.
ОтветитьJoseph Carlson, so smart, insightful and logical especially for being a very young man!
ОтветитьThe thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. $52k dividends received in 2022.
ОтветитьYou should have done a little more research. His top 3 investments are Mastercard, Moody's, and Constellation Software.
ОтветитьI am experiencing one of the most challenging phases of my life... Lost a fortune lnvesting in emerging companies. How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.
ОтветитьIsn't concentrating on few stocks also a risk? In that sense they are taking more risks to beat the market.
ОтветитьI see he's reduced a handful of positions, why l wonder? I thought his philosophy was not to sell on a price target or high valuation, so why's he selling/trimming some positions? To buy something else, has he lost faith in some of his trimmed companies? There it's a grey area.
ОтветитьI have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio dwindle away is such an eye -sore.
ОтветитьCreating wealth entails establishing positive routines, such as consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for sound investments. Financial management is a vital subject that many avoid, often leading to future regrets.
ОтветитьI am new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the stock opportunities so far for the tech stocks. I believe having 275K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the stock market. I know this sounds a bit dull but I would like to know if I should learn investing or let somebody else (more capable like a FA) do it for me? Please share your thoughts. I am kind of tired of searching for a good stock to buy and losing all the good opportunities.
ОтветитьI wonder why he doesn’t own Tesla 😂
ОтветитьGreat video! i really have a question For someone with less than $10,000 to invest, how would you recommend we enter the crypto market? I am at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally what's your take on this approach?
ОтветитьThe current market/economy is unnecessarily tougher for boomers/senior citizens, I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.
ОтветитьI am trying to avoid making any new buys at this point in other not to get sucked into a bear market trap. It's tough making money in stoc.ks when institutional investors are the driving force behind the selling.. although I read an article of people that grossed profts up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?
ОтветитьThe fact that monody’s is still around is a crime.
ОтветитьI know a secret. Read this book: "“Just Keep Buying” by Nick Maggiulli. Great book, great advice.
ОтветитьAs a soon-to-be retiree, keeping my 401k on track after a bumpy 2022 is a high goal. I've read about investors generating up to $250k ROI in this present sinking market; any suggestions for increasing my ROI before retirement would be greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьA nice analysis 👍
ОтветитьBrookfield, nice pick!
Ответитьhe also makes big mistakes, like exiting his Apple position in 2014 and missing one of the best stock rides of the decade
ОтветитьExcellent video !!! thanks
ОтветитьThe fee for the Retail Focus Fund is 1.3%. The fee for Vanguard or Schwab 500 is .03%. Akre’s return may be great but his fees diminish your return. This was jack bogle’s central point. Keep this in mind. Good luck all !
ОтветитьNice episode, earned yourself a sub.
I am heavily exposed to PBR.A. A lot of people hate on it, but it has given me roughly a 50% ROI since I bought in last winter. Their market cap compared to their profits and free cash flow is absurdly attractive, and their shareholder renumeration policy generous.
This episode encouraged me to split further contributions between the two stocks I am currently interested in, PBR and PayPal, as well as Moody's, Visa, Mastercard, and American Tower.
Wondering how you're calculating that 18000% gain on Moody's from 2009 - today? Seems like the gain was closer to 1900%
ОтветитьPlease explain to me how these guys pay for their day to day living expenses if they never sell? Imagine if you bought Berkshire Hathaway 30 yrs ago but never sold. You would be wealthy on paper but how would you use that to benefit your lifestyle without selling?
Ответить💸💸💸😮💨
ОтветитьHey Joseph, I would love to hear your thoughts or plans on stock exit strategy.
ОтветитьWarren buffet and charlie munger do the samething. Their portfolio may have more companies, but is concentrated in a particular sector and has not sold some of those companies at all
Ответить55% in credit and Real Estate, so if a credit crunch or housing crash happens they get hosed?
ОтветитьAnd I bet that they get into their positions via Bull Puts and or Covered Calls in order to get them at a low price with a credit.
ОтветитьI used to have AMT and I sold it. Stupid. 5G takes 5 times more than 4G. The radio waves don’t carry as far and they get blocked easier so you need more.
ОтветитьActually, i think the best time to buy stocks is when the markets are down, lately every week or two we see a day when everything is down, just build up your buying power until a good day to go shopping, and stick with stocks that are predictable ...My Financial advisor Susan Kay Mack had my $170k invested in these picks(high growth) ,NVR,SEB AMZN ,DOW-J, AAPL, NYSE,LISP.SW, NASDAQ, TSLA, I've gotten 76% return so far this year, I'll keep holding to see the outcome
ОтветитьI adhere to these basic guidelines, and it has been a game changer for me. I diversify, use the dollar- or sterling-cost-averaging investing strategy, i rebalance my portfolio every three months with my FA Susan Kay Mack, and primarily invest in an allocation fund that combines managed index funds and ETFs of the SP500. which worked out the best for me, and last year, my portfolio increased by almost 245%, just reaching the seven figure threshold.
ОтветитьIf you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.
ОтветитьVTI and chill
Ответитьi think you meant 1,800% return for moodys that they missed out on not 18,000%
Ответитьenjoyed this one. had a few of the companies akre talk about in my watchlist. :)
ОтветитьI feel sad that even though I am investing, I don't have the brain power to dig through how each company is doing, is this a good time to buy stocks or not, my reserve of $450K is laying waste to inflation and I don't know what to do at this point tbh, I need solid data on market trajectory
ОтветитьThey actually have a lot of risk concentrated on toll booth businesses. These businesses are great until they get disrupted. MA and V, could get disrupted by Apple Pay for example.
Ответитьdoesn't beat VTI when including dividends being reinvested and charges a much higher expense ratio. People are making things much harder than they need to be.
ОтветитьI have allocated at least 50% of my portfolio to Microsoft (MSFT), as I believe it is highly likely that MSFT will continue to outperform the S&P 500 in the future, just as it has done in the past.
ОтветитьAll those analyses by the fund managers and didn’t even beat QQQ.
ОтветитьGreat video ...as investor we all want to invest into great business n let them compound over time .....if you look at visa n master roic n apple all these business are great moat n have grear return on invested capital
ОтветитьWhy does Akre like KKR and hold it does anyone know? KKR invests in a lot of stuff and Akre started buying it in 2018 it looks like?
ОтветитьConstellation Software (9.9% of the Akre Focus Fund, CSU on TSX) is a company worth reviewing, although it's expensive.
ОтветитьMan I wish I owed Mastercard at an average of $101 and Visa at an average of $75!!!
ОтветитьGreat video. You've changed my strategy drastically. Could you consider looking at IIPR? Dividend seems really high (alarmingly so) but financials also look really consistent and great. Guessing the stock price is due to the regulatory nature of the buildings they buy?
Ответить
