Im a die hard country nusic gab, eat breathe and sleep country music, but i never really got into folk and never gave it nuch rhoufht until the recent rise of Zach Bryan.
ОтветитьNew Englind dancing Alabama gal is just a song Sasha is just a song
ОтветитьNice video man keep it up!
ОтветитьI didn’t realize Timothée Chalamet was a music connoisseur
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьI’ve never seen someone be so wrong
ОтветитьThis is awful video. 60s “folk” has nothing to do with real roots folk music that country came from. Look at the Anthology of American Folk music albums if you want an education on what real folk music is. You think country is dark? You haven’t heard old time murder ballads. The old guy at the end is a boomer that think folk is some 60s thing.
ОтветитьSomeone is confusing folk music with protest music. Folk music is the English, scots, German, and Irish ballads filtered through the American rural experience
ОтветитьHm, ok. I can hear the difference a little more now. But, now can you tell us, whats the difference between Folk and Bluegrass?
ОтветитьTL;DR: they are the same
ОтветитьAw, I was expecting this to be about English/Scottish/Irish folk. Great vid though!
Ответить"Folk music is less about having a message and more about having a good time"
folk punk has entered the chat
Folk is western country's grand daddy.
ОтветитьSo…what’s bluegrass?
ОтветитьI am maybe late to the thriving discussion under this video 😅but hey. better late then never.
I always tought (If I am wrong someone please correct me, because I am writing not to argue but to get more understanding) that folk music comes from a term Folklore. Which at least in my native language is basically a summary of customs that are traditional for habitants of some region (country, village etc.).. the customs are anything from verbal, dramatic to dance expressions.. music is no exception to folkore. So I always thought that Country music is a genre that originated from music that was played by the settlers - and they were just playing their traditional (folk) motherland music... no need to say that the music that formed in some regions in USA and was played by settlers and was evolving is FOLK on its own.
what I am trying to say is that the term folk is applicable for varius countries and regions, not only USA 🙃
"in country it's the dog that dies" so you're saying John Wick is a country ballad made into a movie.
ОтветитьYou have great hair
ОтветитьJohn denver was country and folk
Ответить2 line explanation
Does it sound good: Folk
Does it sound bad: Country
Thanks bro 😎
ОтветитьOK so what's the difference between Western music and Country music.
ОтветитьCompletely unrelated, but your hair is magestic
ОтветитьModern country is very polarizing like Garth Brooks and everyone like Him
Ответитьwhy not both! country folk americana
ОтветитьI'd say they both carry or can carry heavy messages. But sound difference is definitely noticeable
ОтветитьWSB radio in Atlanta had a helping hand in the creation of country music. Source: The Ken Burns documentary about country music. Also, The Carter Family is folk music. Wildwood Flower is incredibly folky.
ОтветитьThat end was little surprising but overal good vid
ОтветитьAny individual who dedicates their time by researching the actual definition of folk music rather than through the anglospheric narrative would know to an extent a difference between the two genres.
Folk music is widespread across all cultures including all seven continents. The word folk derives from the German word "volk" which translates to "the people"in English. Thus, it's an indication of a traditional music that emerged seperately throughout cultures.
Whilst, country is a genre that essentially derived from folk music and primarily associates with southern American folk music with some Scottish roots, with some Italian, Spanish and western African influences.
Not strictly what I was looking for, but helpful as someone closer to folk a musician if I classified myself that way.
ОтветитьCountry = Cowboys
Folk = Hippies
i can't explain how happy it makes me when i realize i recognised a song! i've only been listening to country for like three days and i didn't start with the classics
ОтветитьI was just waiting for Croce lol
ОтветитьFolk is like Hippie music. Done
ОтветитьThis is to mainstream based
ОтветитьI can tell much of a difference. It almost seems like the same genre but difference goals. Lol pop and R&B or0
ОтветитьFolk music is Country music for Liberals
ОтветитьTHANK GOD AND JESUS FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE AND LISTEN TO GODLY MUSIC AND READ YOUR BIBLE AND JOVAUGHN_Goldenrev
ОтветитьI like your videos
ОтветитьJust searched
ОтветитьCountry sounds very Scotch Irish.
ОтветитьFolk sounds very English.💯
ОтветитьAnd then there's pop country which I find embarrassing.
Ответитьthanks for that, although I'm still non the wiser ,seems to me they are both the same type of music .cheers !
ОтветитьI still can't tell a folk song and a country song apart😶🥲
ОтветитьFolk singers are mainly british
ОтветитьIn country music 🎶 there's instruments like classical guitar 🎸, drums 🥁, electric guitar 🎸 or guitar 🎸 solo, acordion & balalaika so the instruments in country music 🎵 are classical guitar, electric guitar 🎸, guitar solo, banjo, drums 🥁, acoustic guitar 🎸, dobro, harmonica and finally mandolin
ОтветитьI feel like a lot of folk musicians are country people also
Ответить
