I'm so happy the algorithm recommended this to me. My video about this election is not nearly this good.
ОтветитьBetter then our elections today
ОтветитьThis reminds me of the European Union. Nothing significant gets done unless all States agree with it.
Obviously the States would be and are evidently better of by joining forces together in the United States. Is just a shame that the EU doesn't see it that way mainly because each nation lives shackled and very much hostage of their historical past
NAPOVOINTERCO!
National Popular Vote Interstate Compact
German here:
1. Not that better we have a chancellor and a president but in reality the president is only ceremonial. The only part is that "House of representatives" ( Bundestag) votes directly for who should be chancellor who performs the main task of would be the president in the US. I think the main flaw is the electoral college that is designed unfairly in most states.
2. I made it to the end because i am just as interrestet in everybody else history as mine. It might be a european thung because we a basicly sitting on one another and our history is pretty linked. We for example bot just learn about the horrors of naziism but also about the french revolution. The americas are actually only mentioned in passing, but because you are also very linked with our history it feels fine watching something so inherently american.
Now days we just find other ways to cheat
ОтветитьCrazy how all their fears of a federal government literally came true today.
ОтветитьThe Electoral College in the 21st century has done the opposite of its intention. Both Bush and Trump would never have won the Electoral College if it worked as the framers intended.
It's a joke and needs to be abolished.
Let's go back to only allowing land owning males to vote!
Ответить🥰🥰❤❤😍😍
ОтветитьHonestly having president and then runner up be vice president is much better than today's elections
Ответитьsoon as he said electoral college (an expletive) left my mouth
ОтветитьThis channel is top notch!
ОтветитьSo even the first election was rigged lol.
ОтветитьI am not an American, i am a Syrian actually, and i made it to the end of this video and a lot more on your channel cause i love your videos at first and i like your way of storytelling history. Please continue and keep on doing more.
Thank you.
In my opinion if we made mud-slinging illegal, and focus on the real issues; in time we could really make a difference and make our world a better place. The BS we call our government today is totally unacceptable.
Ответитьthe anti-federalist was ahead of their time.
ОтветитьThis creator claims to have a Ph.D. in history but I can't verify that or find his credentials. Are they posted somewhere?
ОтветитьNot an American but watched this vid twice now, love stuff like this, political quirks and different (and antiquated) democratic systems
ОтветитьI'd prefer the electoral college be dismantled, and individual votes actually have their say. Because oftentimes, the results would have been, and would be, quite different indeed ! It can get too sketchy at times..
ОтветитьInvoluntary contracts are slavery.
ОтветитьWhat I'm hearing is that the so called "Founding Fathers" were just as conniving as politicians today
Ответить"a republic, if you can keep it".
ОтветитьI've been watching your channel since that time traveling checklist for the medieval period. This one was fascinating and gave so much insight to things I hadn't seen considered. I thought it was just a simple 100% vote from the electoral college to elect Washington but this shows so much more of the story. I love the small details such as the scheme to make sure John Adams wasn't accidentally elected. It is comical to see just how human the founding fathers were and how many mistakes they made. My favorite part was when New York missed the deadline to vote due to the disagreement on how they should vote. It's just funny to think how loosely structured the government really was at the very start of our country compared to where it is today.
ОтветитьGeorge, while a great military leader, was a horrible president. He was a Federalist which means he did not want "the people" to have any say or power and that the Federal government should rule over everyone and everything without any input from the states or "the people".
ОтветитьThis is leslie knopes boyfriend from parks and rec.
ОтветитьDid Adams ever learn why the votes had gone the way they had? Was there any precedent for this style of voting that they had drawn upon? Bit depressing that the first election was an attempt at a pre-ordained appointment
ОтветитьSo manipulating elections is so ingrained in american politics that not only was it present in the 1st election, but it wasn't even necessary 😂 says it all.
ОтветитьCan anyone go into the specific financial reasons for the colonies forming federal govt
ОтветитьSo worse.
That said the US should move to a parliamentary system today. Current Constitution is incredibly outdated and, as we can now see, very easy to abuse when a person or party no longer agrees with traditional conventions.
Even then the Clinton's were evil anti americans
ОтветитьI really like this video format.
ОтветитьFunny how the first seat of government was in New York, witch did not have any electors and therefore did not vote in the election
ОтветитьI’m Canadian and I’ve never really understood the electoral college. I tried reading about it one other time and it was explained that you vote for a guy and hope they vote for who you want. I much prefer our system where we vote directly for the party we want in power.
ОтветитьThe nation was immediately forfeited to corporate/global interests only a few years after it's inception. Sad really.
ОтветитьI always thought the problem with the original election system was the order of succession. You'd have two diametrically opposed candidates one step away from each other. Adams called VP the most useless position in government and under this system, alls you had to do is bump off the guy ahead of you. Then with the constitutional protections, you couldnt even be trialed for murder. The worst youd face is impeachment and with a divided congress you could get away with it.
It was really a dumb idea which had to be much more apperant during the second election when Adams and Jefferson fought like rabbid dogs. If Adams just had Jefferson killed, he'd be made president for a second term.
At what point did the constitution become sacred?
ОтветитьAs a Spanish whose only exposure to American US history for a long time was the musical Hamilton this was enlightening!!! Thank you so much for the video
ОтветитьI THOUGHT THAT BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF POPULAR VOTE, FORCESTHE ELECTORAL COLLEGE TO CAST A VOTE FOR WHAT EACH DISTRICT OF ELECTORATE RECIEVED FROM THE PEOPLE, BCUZ IF WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT IS TRUE I DONT THINK WE SHOULD SEE A PRESIDENT DECLARED ON THE SAME AS ELECTION DAY, YOU NEED TO REDO THIS VIDEO
ОтветитьWhat would happen if Washington and Adams tied? Very curious what would happen
ОтветитьLooks like they were right about the federal system screwing over most of us
ОтветитьBetter than First Past The Post
ОтветитьAnti federalist just casually predicting the future 👀
ОтветитьWashington was a one-in-ten-billion type of guy. He gave the power back before he became president. Instead of usurping power and taking over after the Brits surrendered, he disbanded the army and sent everyone home. Not many successful generals give the power back after winning that power through battle.
He also payed for his own stuff (most of it) while he was serving and turned in some expense reimbursement requests at the end of the war.
A one-in-ten-billion type of character. 🦅🇺🇸🦅
What about the first 3, presidents? Before Washington
ОтветитьMake Feds illegal
ОтветитьOnly thing I really took from this is from the first election to the current it seems interest groups controlled who would win, ultimately making every election rigged . Figures
Ответить
