My little cousin had cerebral palsy. He was non verbal and couldn’t walk. He loved Michael Jackson so much. My cousin and I weren’t that close because we didn’t live together, but when we did see each other, it was lots of fun. Every time a Michael Jackson song would come on the radio, he would try to “dance” in his wheelchair by scooting his body around. He would also squeeze my pinky finger when our favourite songs would come one. Those were really special experiences. He passed away 4 years ago. He was only 8 years old. ❤️❤️❤️

I loved the ending. You could tell that Abbie was so happy to have Summer around and that she was just playing around about her sitting next to her. 💓

I have the exact same thing with two kids who have autism. One of them actually looks and acts a little like Abbie. I (age 19) am the caregiver to those children (age 9&11) but most of the time it feels like hanging out with my friends when I'm with them. I actually also lived with them for a month. After that, de bound between us only got bigger. And what you described as girl time is also something I recognize from the 11 year old. She always hated to take showers, but we made it our girl time and now she can't wait to go and take a shower every time I'm with her. I'm actually really glad that I found this video and your channel. Unspoken love is truly existing because I can feel it so deeply, they are just showing their love in another way.

Sicerely,
Marein from The Netherlands

One of my best friends is special needs and in a wheel chair! She literally the most funny spunkiest girl ever and I don’t know what I’d do without her. Also my other best friend little sister has down syndrome and I don’t know what I’d do without her little sassy attitude! You don’t need direct verbal communication to have a friendship and an unbreakable bond with someone!

I feel like as obvious as this should be in 2020 this is important to see. Teens are still Teens they want chats and girl time and girl talk. I see a lot of the teenage silliness in her that i used to have with my best friends. We still do the whole "lets get a giant swimming pool in your back yard" as adult friends lol! similar to her wanting to ride in the chart i feel like lol

Do you think Abbie will ever learn more small talk signs like “how are you” or description things like “that’s cute”
Do you think that is even necessary?

Oh my goodness. That's soo adorable. She is soo much more of a character and expressive when she's hanging with her bestie. Quite astute on pointing out her use of her limited signs (even though plenty of times used incorrectly) to open lines of communication and expression. The fact that she tries like that in itself is almost an 'I love you'. I would bet that there are many things like that, where if you know her for long enough, you get the gist of what she's saying even when the signs don't make sense.

It can be a harsh reality for parents that their ties sometimes grow stronger with friends than with parents but never lose sight of the fact that she still loves you a lot (likely even more than she realizes since she's around you all the time) and that's what matters.

But. Just remember. You are an amazing family to her and you are doing great. And you can definitely tell she loves you (just as much as her bestie). Again, just doesn't manifest as strongly since you're around all the time. It is quite lucky she has such an understanding and well supported structure around her. She has her parents, she has her brother, she has her best friend, etc. Sadly more often than not, autistic children don't have all of that.
